Responsibilities

Summary

Responsible for the surface preparation and painting process in accordance with the work specifications as per regulatory, company, customer, and manufacturer guidelines. Employees utilize pneumatic tools and equipment in the performance of aircraft painting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Pre-paint preparatory tasks, including, but not limited to, sanding/ abrading, washing, masking, etc.
  • Read and interpret Technical Data Sheets to safely mix paints in accordance with specifications
  • Paint various hydraulic assemblies and components utilizing pneumatic spray gun while following work instructions, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Identification and application of parts technical markings, decals, spray masks, stencils, etc. as required to facilitate the painting process.
  • Work with hazardous chemicals such as Acetone, Alcohol, HFE-72DE, paints, sealants, bonding solvents paint stripper, solvents, and paint thinners. May involve prolonged exposure to caustic oils such as Hyjis et IV. Some heavy lifting required.
  • Monitoring and verifying quality in accordance with manufacturing planning, quality plans, and engineering drawings 
  • Meeting production deadlines by following manufacturing schedule and procedures
  • Working with support resources and cell leaders to resolve production problems when they arise.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment by adhering to safety policies, contributing to risk mitigation management teams, and keeping all work areas clean.
  • Contributing to team effort by maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Continuously striving to find ways to make manufacturing process more efficient and effective
  • Contributing to the overall effectiveness of the assembly department through participation in FOD, 5S, TPM, PM, and Process Improvement programs.
  • May train others on job tasks they are proficient in.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience                                                  

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent required.

Basic understanding of the following preferred:

  • Ability to apply concepts of general mathematics
  • Precision measuring devices
  • Part drawings/blueprints, dimensioning, and tolerancing
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Intermediate computer skills
