Triumph Actuation Products and Services - Yakima is an industry leader in landing gear actuation, providing actuation components to every major aircraft manufacturer. Triumph Actuation Products and Services - Yakima is also the sole supplier of the critical repeatable release holdback bars used for launching US Navy fighter jets from aircraft carriers. Summer Intern - Supply Chain & Material Planning – Manufacture Engineer
Overview
Triumph is actively seeking a Summer 2026 Engineering Intern to support a range of technical responsibilities in a fast-paced manufacturing production environment. The internship provides a college-level student with practical experience related to their major that will enhance and complement classroom learning.
We are seeking a results-oriented Operations & Supply Chain Intern to lead high-impact strategic initiatives within our fulfillment and planning departments. This role is designed for a candidate who enjoys blending data-driven analysis with shop-floor reality. You will be responsible for building the frameworks that determine how we source components and how we hold our global supply base accountable to frozen planning on critical component production schedules.
Responsibilities
Make vs. Buy Framework Development
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Planning and Fulfillment and Supply Chian to create a standardized Make vs. Buy decision matrix.
• Analyze internal capacity, labor rates, and machine utilization versus external landed costs to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Present a formal business case for at least one high-value component to be transitioned (either insourced, outsourced or transferred externally).
Supplier Intelligence & Database Management
• Finalize design and implement a centralized Supplier Database to track capabilities, certifications, and historical performance metrics.
Manufacturing Engineering (ME) Planning & Review
• Partner with SC ME to review and validate supplier production plans for critical parts.
• Analyze supplier planning, technique sheets, and frozen planning to ensure they align with our internal master planning requirements.
• Identify potential bottlenecks or errors in supplier processes and propose mitigation strategies to prevent past-due deliveries.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent required
• Pursuing a BA degree in a field related to Engineering or Manufacturing or related fields. (Undergraduate level preferred).
• Communication: Strong professional writing and verbal skills for interfacing with cross-functional department heads and external vendors.
• Analytical Mindset: Ability to take complex, disparate data sets and turn them into actionable executive summaries.
• Computer skills required: intermediate-advanced Excel, Outlook, Word, (Visio-preferred but not required)
• Direct manufacturing experience or experience with MRP systems (Material Requirements Planning) preferred.
Pay Range: $18.00 - $26.00/Hour
Hiring range and position pay range may differ, commensurate with education, qualifications, and experience.
