Responsibilities
Summary:
Design, development, and test of aerospace hydraulic components and systems by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Apply creative problem-solving skills to solve challenging hydro-mechanical problems.
Assume responsibility for technical items and administrative duties necessary to assure timely completion of assigned projects.
Maintain an orderly and retrievable record of all technical items pertaining to a project. File calculations, records of telephone conversations, and correspondence in an orderly manner in a “Project File.”
Review specifications and perform requirements management activities necessary to identify, track, change, validate, and verify customer requirements.
Design complex hydro-mechanical components and assemblies to meet customer requirements with guidance from more experienced Engineers. This includes, but is not limited to, the design of actuators, valves, manifolds, and test fixtures.
Prepare the various analyses necessary to substantiate the design of hydro-mechanical components and assemblies.
Prepare layouts, drawings, and schematics of complex hydro-mechanical components, assemblies, and test fixtures, utilizing good drafting practices and technical judgment.
Assemble development hardware and test fixtures and perform associated development testing with guidance from the Test Engineers and Technicians.
Prepare test procedures, reports, data, and data items according to established standards and military specifications regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
Manage projects by scheduling necessary tasks, identifying material requirements, implementing design changes, and disseminating specification requirements to applicable departments within the company.
Communicate with Engineers and other departments, as necessary, keeping the Engineering Leadership informed of all developments.
Apprise fellow Engineers and Engineering Leadership of any schedule or technical problems that are unable to be resolved.

Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from an accredited four-year college or university in an appropriate mechanical engineering field.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Using English as the primary language, must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
TRAVEL
Travel is infrequent for this position, but occasional travel domestically and internationally is possible.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be noisy when on the shop floor. In certain areas, hearing protection is required.
