Summary  Specialist position leading environmental, health, and safety strategy and managing EHS functions for our facilities. This is key role in fostering a culture of safety and environmental awareness across the organization. Responsible for all health, safety, environmental matters for to ensure EHS excellence and compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
•    Primary point of contact for ISO14001 Environmental Management System including site lead for external and internal audits
•    Manage compliance with state and local regulations pertaining to environment and occupational health & safety 
•    Lead site-wide EHS initiatives through administration of EMS readiness/continuous improvement, Risk Assessment/management, and site management representative on EHS council
•    Driving the implementation of short-to-long-term EHS projects through providing project management for major EHS program enhancements
•    Coach operational managers and actively assist them in delivering a safe workplace with a strong safety culture, including implementation of corrective actions and/or safety improvement initiatives
•    Proactive management to ensure all risk of injury has been identified and adequately controlled in order to protect our people and minimize risk or injury
•    Undertake, participate and lead in the development and implementation of EHS policies, programs, and procedures
•    Identifies risks within the company’s business operations; develops and implements programs to mitigate.
•    Identifies new and emerging EHS regulatory requirements; champions and supports the implementation of programs and procedures to ensure compliance.
•    Develops and implements training programs across the site for employees in areas such as environmental compliance, facilities inspections, hazardous material handling, emergency response, industrial hygiene, occupational health and safety, etc.
•    Provides technical guidance throughout the company in the areas of occupational health, safety and environment.
•    Conduct or Support Incident and Accident reporting and Investigations.
•    Provides safety stewardship and oversight for on-site sub-contracted services.
•    Works with Risk Management to ensure corrective action is taken where health and safety hazards exist in relation to Workers Compensation injuries

Education and/or Experience                               
•    Minimum of 5 years-experience in related industry utilizing EHS knowledge and expertise
•    Thorough working knowledge of ISO 14001 or generally, Management Systems
o    Certification or training as an Auditor is favorable. 
•    Strong knowledge about environment, health and safety regulations, and policies.  
o    Experience in agency-level regulatory compliance at the state and/or local level a plus.

•    BA/BS in the field of Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental, Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering/Management, Industrial Hygiene, Risk Management, or other related experience.
•    Registration or Certifications as either: Professional Engineer (P.E.), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Health and Safety Manager (CSHM), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification preferred.
•    Ability and interest in researching and understanding specific code or regulatory language in order to maintain EHS compliance. 
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels, including external customers, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
•    Proven experience in a management, leadership role/ partnering with senior stakeholders in driving EHS strategy
•    Strong customer service skills.
•    Comfortable with developing and delivering presentations to employees of all levels.
•    Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
•    Skilled in the use of EHS Information Management Systems.
Other Qualifications                               
Must meet ITAR regulations regarding citizenship requirements.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

Working Conditions:
Physical requirements of routine machine shop work as shown below, also: 
voice, vision, hearing, and dexterity.
8 hours/day standing or walking
