Responsibilities
Summary
Independently performs a variety of complex precision machining operations utilizing CNC or manual controlled machine tools to produce components to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications to accurately set up CNC machines.
• Develop, model, and verify cutting paths using CAM software and related verification tools to ensure safe and efficient machining.
• Program CNC machines according to material requirements, tooling needs, and production specifications.
• Adjust toolpaths, feeds, speeds, and machine settings to optimize cycle times while maintaining required quality standards.
• Evaluate and select appropriate cutting tools based on material type, machining strategy, and production goals.
• Manage personal workflow to meet programming deadlines, support production schedules, and minimize machine downtime.
• Complete all required documentation, including program records, setup sheets, revisions, and process notes, in accordance with internal procedures.
• Collaborate closely with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering teams to resolve issues, improve processes, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, and other shop personnel to gather data, clarify requirements, and ensure smooth production flow.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
• High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent level of education, is required.
• 5 years of CNC programming experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
• 2–3 years of experience using NX and Predator applications for programming and verification.
• Advanced knowledge and hands on experience with precision measuring tools, gauges, and other inspection devices.
• Strong ability to interpret part drawings, blueprints, dimensioning, and tolerancing, including working knowledge of GD&T.
• Proficiency in shop math used in machining and programming applications.
• Expertise with CNC machine tool controls, G code, and DNC control systems.
• Experience performing preventative and corrective maintenance on CNC machinery, including troubleshooting mechanical and control issues.
• Proficiency with Vericut or similar toolpath validation software.
• Demonstrated experience with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and waste reduction practices.
• Prior experience working in a manufacturing setting is required.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all programming, verification, and documentation tasks.
• Familiarity and expertise with CNC tooling, including tool selection, setup, and optimization.
• Ability to work independently while closely following established procedures and engineering instructions.
• Availability to work weekends and overtime as required by production demands.
Position Pay Range: $31.06 - $43.85/Hour. Hiring range and position pay range may differ, commensurate with education level, qualifications, and experience.
