Position

We are currently seeking a Lead Project Engineer to join our NPI Project Engineering Group to lead the Windsor Project Engineers that support our nose wheel steering systems and landing gear product design and development. This person will demonstrate the ability to execute successful product development programs for new or modified product on schedule and within budget from concept design through production transition. This position will be based out of Windsor, CT, but will report through the West Hartford Engineering organization.

Responsibilities

•Lead the Project Engineers that support our Windsor products, including the coordination of nose wheel steering system and landing gear sub-components and other mechanical system products. Other responsibilities to be reviewed during the interviewing process. 

This working lead Project Engineering position responsibilities will include:
•Effectively lead the integrated product team in the development of new products
•Communicate with the customer on technical and project related topics
•Prepare component specifications, test plans, and test reports
•Provide oversight of test activities (setup and testing)
•Organize team level RCCA activities to diagnose and troubleshoot products, including nose wheel steering system and landing gear sub-components.
•Review/monitor schedule and budget commitments relative to assigned projects and communicate risks to management.
•Support Operations in ensuring that engineered product meets financial objectives through implementation of acceptance tests and build standards that align with Design to Cost (DTC) costs.
•Prepare proposal responses and lead proposal team in response to customer requests for quotations (RFQ’s). 
•Ensure new product development procedures are adhered to and that recommendations for continuous improvement relative to lessons learned are communicated and incorporated into revised procedures.
•Identify process and product improvements (new products and legacy products) and implement changes.
•Multi-task, execute cross-functional activities, and drive projects to successfully meet key milestones.
•Foster good working relationships with customers, suppliers and internal departments.

Qualifications

•BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required; PMP certification, MS or MBA degree a plus.
•10 plus years of relevant experience in working in nose wheel steering systems and landing gear sub-components or similar products. 
•Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
•Strong technical writing skills
•Experience working in and leading product development teams, creating project plans, performing risk assessments and working resource plans necessary for successful program execution.
