Position
We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to the join our Connecticut Triumph Systems, Electronics and Controls Team. This person will demonstrate the ability to be the engineering technical lead for new or modified programs from initial concept design through production transition. This includes the design, development, and analysis of aircraft components. This position will include responsibilities for nose wheel steering programs located in Windsor CT.
Responsibilities
•Provide Mechanical Engineering leadership for projects assigned. Working with cross-functional design, analytical and project engineering teams with respect to fuel pumping systems, vapor cycle systems, nose wheel steering and/or actuation systems.
•Identify process and product improvements including root cause and corrective action investigations for new products and legacy products and implement changes.
•Prepare component specifications, design inputs and engineering reports.
•Provide oversight of mechanical test activities.
•Communicate with customers on technical and project management related topics.
•Foster good working relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal departments.
•Support Operations to ensure that the engineered product meets financial objectives through implementation of acceptance test and build standards that align with Design to Cost (DTC) objectives.
•Assist management tracking schedule and budget commitments.
•Multi-task, execute cross-functional activities, and drive projects to successfully meet key milestones.
Qualifications
•BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required, MSME preferred.
•10 – 15 years of related experience preferred. Relevant experience includes working with fuel systems, engine controls, landing gear, nose wheel steering, hydraulic actuation systems, aerospace systems or similar mechanical products.
•Self-motivated and ability to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team.
•Able to read and understand complex mechanical detail parts and assembly drawings.
•Able to read and understand hydraulic and electrical schematics.
•Strong technical communication skills (written and verbal).
•Experience working in and leading product development teams.
•Hands-on mechanical product assembly, inspection and/or testing experience a plus.
•Ability and willingness to travel as required.
