Overview

TRIUMPH Systems Electronics & Control is a leading independent aerospace system supplier for the commercial, military, helicopter, and business jet markets. Based in West Hartford, CT, Triumph employs approximately 500 employees and recently celebrated their 90th year in business. The Company’s key products and services include electronic engine controls, fuel metering units, main fuel pumps and environmental control systems for both the OE and aftermarket/spares end markets. 

 

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Thermal Systems Engineer to join our West Hartford Engineering team.  The Systems Engineer will serve as the main technical liaison within Triumph between engineering disciplines and with the external customer.  Programs include developments and support of (Vapor Cycle) Environmental Control Systems (VCS/ECS) for commercial and military ground and airborne platforms, high-power motors, and embedded firmware controllers. 

Responsibilities

  • Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of new product development work as program technical lead or in a supporting role on a larger scope project to meet company and customer requirements.
  • Deploy and derive system and component level functional, performance and interface requirements necessary to comply with customer requirements, including specification of components and subsystems through validation, verification, and certification. 
  • System integration and test
  • Project management (scheduling, budgeting, and cost tracking)
  • Work directly with internal and external customers and suppliers, including presentations to company and customer executives throughout the product life cycle.
  • Provide specialized support in technical, programmatic or team building solving.
  • Additional duties include assurance of close integration and open communication between all functions. 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in the commercial and military aircraft business and possess many of the attributes listed below:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required, MS degree a plus.
  • 3 to 5 years of prior related Thermal Systems Engineering experience required.
  • Broad technical knowledge in mechanical and thermal design and analysis, system and feedback controls performance, fluid dynamics, test engineering and a good knowledge of principles and practices of related specialties.
  • Knowledge of thermal heat transfer or refrigeration cycles preferred.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in failure analysis and troubleshooting complex systems
  • Strong communication skills as well as ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel – up to 10%
