Position

We have an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader, Inspection to join our West Hartford, CT Team. The Inspector Team Lead will directly supervise 20+ quality/inspection employees working the in union manufacturing environment. 

 

The Team Lead will schedule shift production work and hold the staff accountable for meeting deliverables while maintaining 100% product quality and ensuring a safe working environment. The Team Lead is responsible for supporting the effective implementation of the Business’s Quality Management System (QMS) within the local organizational unit. This role is the functional management representative responsible for compliance of products and processes used by the organizational unit internally (& possibly externally) in the production of aerospace products. This role will be the Voice of the Customer advocate within the Company. 

Responsibilities

Supervises the daily activities of the functional Quality organization ensuring adequate resources are in in place to ensure compliance and cross training initiatives are happening to maximize the Quality staff. Interface with operations staff on Quality matters.  Provide guidance and training on advance inspection methods and operation of Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM). 


Lead will also be responsible to:
•Hire, interview, train, schedule, plan, assign, and direct work.  
•Address employee issues, takes appropriate action, rewarding and disciplining employees in accordance with Company policy. 
•Troubleshoot, and resolve problems.
•Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve product quality.
•Lead department initiatives to implement Continuous Improvements/Lean initiatives and quality improvements.
•Developing Root Cause and Corrective Action improvements to our processes.
•Drive a work environment of Increasing Safety Awareness, and supervise departmental Health & Safety Risk Assessments.

 

The Team Lead provides Quality leadership / guidance on relevant QMS matters as well as product compliance to the organization. Must possess the ability to properly balance good compliance practices with other business initiatives to avoid conflict and allow all objectives of the business to be satisfied. This role is the advocate for the VOC (voice of the customer), ensuring customer requirements are realized throughout the life cycle of the products and processes used within their organizational unit from development through product realization and support while in service.

Qualifications

In addition to the key responsibilities outlined above, the successful candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

•Bachelor’s degree in operations, engineering, business, or a technical field required. 
•Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
•Previous supervisor experience in a manufacturing facility is a requirement; union leadership experience is a plus.
•Functional Quality experience is desired.  Programming and Operation of CMM strongly desired.
•Experience working with a QMS and application of measurement, analysis & CI tools.
•Demonstrated problem solving skills, RCCA.
•Strong business acumen coupled with mental aptitude and motivation to learn.
•Demonstrate initiative and advanced interpersonal skills in team problem solving situations, relationship building and aligning with business goals.
•CQE, AS9100 certification, AS13100 certification, Lean Practitioner, CQM/OE, PMP, Green belt,
•Familiarity with export controls regulations (ITAR/EAR) is a plus.
•Good interpersonal skills at all levels of the organization.
•Strong technical & analytical skills.
•Ability to multi-task and support Operations, (schedule, CI activities, etc.) while maintaining compliance to Quality requirements.
•Ability to work independently without significant oversight.
•Ability to balance multiple and sometimes conflicting business objectives.
     

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The following knowledge, skills or abilities are not required but are highly desired to perform the team leader job function.  


•MS Office or equivalent, Project Management tools experience is a plus.
•Policy Deployment experience.
•CMM Operation, PCDMIS software
•Manufacturing experience in precision machining environment
