Overview
Triumph Engine Control Systems is a leading independent aerospace fuel system supplier for the commercial, military, helicopter, and business jet markets. Based in West Hartford, CT, Triumph employs approximately 550 personnel. The Company’s key products and services include electronic engine controls, fuel metering units, and main fuel pumps for both the OE and aftermarket/spares end markets.
Triumph is actively seeking a Production Management Intern to support a range of operational responsibilities in a high pace manufacturing production environment. The internship will provide a college-level student with practical experience related to his or her major that will enhance and complement classroom learning.
The ideal candidate for this position should have excellent mechanical, analytical, and problem solving skills, good writing ability, and must be self-motivated with excellent interpersonal and team skills. Familiarity with principles of manufacturing production line layouts, knowledge of Least Waste Way (LWW) continuous improvement philosophies and must be pursuing a BS degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Operations Management.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the definition of new process flows to improve the efficiency of current production processes
- Involvement in factory floor layout redesign to promote optimal manufacturing flow and space conservation
- Knowledge of basic mechanical measurements and instrumentation (i.e. calipers, depth gauge, dial indicators, etc.) to assist with component level analysis’
- Assist with incorporation of new product introduction into our existing mechanical department infrastructure
- Contribute by streamlining processes and eliminating waste via introduction of new technology and automation
- Good working knowledge of MS Office products including macro scripting, and data reduction and automation
Qualifications
- Rising Junior or Senior Year
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies used in eliminating waste from manufacturing processes needed.
- Innovative approach for driving process efficiencies and cost reduction
- Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Good interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels in the organization
- Candidates must be a US Citizen or a US Permanent resident
