Summer Intern - Industrial/Manufacturing Engineer

Overview

 

Triumph Engine Control Systems is a leading independent aerospace fuel system supplier for the commercial, military, helicopter, and business jet markets. Based in West Hartford, CT, Triumph employs approximately 550 personnel. The Company’s key products and services include electronic engine controls, fuel metering units, and main fuel pumps for both the OE and aftermarket/spares end markets.

 

Triumph is actively recruiting a summer 2021 Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering intern to support a range of responsibilities in a high pace manufacturing production environment. The internship provides a college-level student with practical experience related to his or her major that will enhance and complement classroom learning.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Assist in the implementation of new factory layout to promote optimal manufacturing flow and inventory space conservation.
  • Support the development/design of new tooling and fixtures
  • Support Manufacturing/operations processes aimed at improving productivity, implementing continuous improvements, operational efficiencies and to reduce cost while ensuring quality standards are maintained.
  • Design systems to integrate workers, machines, and information to make products or provide services
  • Automate Manufacturing to Material Handling processes to reduce labor and eliminate waste
  • Work with outside suppliers to support special projects.
  • Write Process sheets and Work instructions
  • Eliminate waste in production or manufacturing processes
  • Develop and report performance metrics
  • Implement corrective actions
  • Design and develop manufacturing methods to increase effectiveness, efficiency, and space.

Qualifications

 

  • Junior or Senior Year, minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies
  • Innovative approach for driving process efficiencies and cost reduction
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Good writing ability
  • Lean Manufacturing
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint experience
  • CAD/CAM knowledge helpful
  • Self-motivated with positive interpersonal and team skills
  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to work with all levels in the organization
