Triumph Engine Control Systems is a leading independent aerospace fuel system supplier for the commercial, military, helicopter, and business jet markets. Based in West Hartford, CT, Triumph employs approximately 550 personnel. The Company’s key products and services include electronic engine controls, fuel metering units, and main fuel pumps for both the OE and aftermarket/spares end markets.
Triumph is actively recruiting a summer 2021 Electrical Manufacturing Engineering Intern to support a range of technical responsibilities in a fast pace manufacturing production environment. The internship will provide a college-level student with practical experience related to his or her major that will enhance and complement classroom learning.
The ideal candidate for this position should have excellent electrical, analytical, and problem solving skills. Candidate must also be self-motivated, have good interpersonal aptitude and work well in a team environment. Key functions of this internship include: first-hand troubleshooting of product defects, utilizing root cause corrective action (RCCA) principles, applying continuous improvement, and implementation of automated tools and processes where possible.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair Electronic Engine Control faults (unit and board level)
- Document non-conformances in Quality system and write troubleshoot reports
- Perform board level testing and component screening as needed
- Conduct gauge R&R activity for new automated diagnostic equipment
- Generate test plans, run validation tests, and assist with release of automated profiles
- Process boards through automated Flying Probe System and 3D AOI
- Support profile development efforts for SMT component (removal, reflow and installation)
- Assist with Board Hospital optimization and standard work establishment
- Coordinate maintenance, calibration, and repair activities for key automated equipment
- Evaluate new innovated technologies to streamline processes and eliminating waste
Qualifications
- Qualified candidates must be in their Junior or Senior Year, with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Pursuing a Bachelors’ Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
- Strong technical background with working experience of Analog and Digital circuits.
- Methodical approach toward troubleshooting and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA).
- Ability to develop and read Electrical Schematics, CAD drawings and PCBA files.
- Innovative approach for driving process efficiencies and cost reduction
- Proficient with Microsoft Office especially MS Excel.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Good interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels in the organization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Candidates must be a US Citizens or a US Permanent Resident.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Educated in J-Standard and IPC-A-610
- Ability to read and write LabView code.
- Simulation Tools (LTSpice, Intusoft, MathWorks/Simulink).
- Analysis Tools (Mathcad, MS Excel, Minitab, MS Access).
