Based in West Hartford, CT, Triumph Electronics and Control employs approximately 500 people.  The Company’s key products and services include the design, development, certification, manufacture and repair of fuel pumps, fuel metering units, fuel controls, thermal systems and electronic engine control systems for helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft servicing military, commercial, regional and business jet market segments.

 

The Structural/FEA Engineer is responsible for leading the creation and improvement of products that involve the engineering department. This includes the design, development, and analysis of aircraft fuel system components. 

Responsibilities

•Perform relevant structural design analyses with respect to fuel pumping systems, vapor cooling systems, and/or actuation systems.
•Review customer requirements for understanding with the intention of providing analysis of mechanical solutions to thermal and engine system elements, such as vapor cycle compressors, thermal expansion valves, heat exchangers, fuel pumps & metering units, actuation systems and accessories.
•Able to create detailed and converged finite element analyses based on inputs from customer specifications and other engineering teams.
•Perform detailed design analyses and present results to customers in support of design reviews. 
•Able to recommend design feature modifications to alleviate stress concerns, while being mindful of impact to weight and manufacturability
•Extensive experience and proficient in ANSYS Workbench environment, v.2020R1 or newer; particularly with structural, vibration, and dynamics modules.
•Able to read and understand complex mechanical detail parts and assembly drawings.
•Able to read and understand hydraulic schematics.
•Ability and willingness to travel as required. 
•Strong technical communication skills (written and verbal).
•Self-motivated and ability to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team.
•Specific interest in turbine engine fuel/oil pump design, environmental control system packaging, component design and analysis. 

Qualifications

•BSME required, MSME preferred.  5 – 10 years of related experience preferred.
•Self-motivated and ability to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team.
•Familiar with 3D solid modelling, preferably SpaceClaim, Design Modeler, or NX.
•Familiar with MATLAB Simulink.
•Familiar with ANSYS classic interface and APDL language.
•Familiar with casting and machining principles including additive manufacturing.
•Specific interest in high speed rotating systems/assemblies and rotordynamics.
•Ability to meet project deadlines/schedule within budget.
•Must be US Citizen, Green Card Holder.
