Triumph Systems, Electronics and Controls is a leading independent aerospace system supplier for the commercial and military helicopter and business jet markets. Based in West Hartford, CT, Triumph employs approximately 530 employees. The Company’s key products and services include electronic engine controls, fuel metering units, main fuel pumps and environmental control systems for both the OE and aftermarket/spares end markets.
We are seeking a highly motivated Principal Thermal Systems Engineer for our West Hartford, CT team. The Principal Thermal Systems Engineer will serve as the main technical liaison within Triumph and with external customers for product development programs. Programs include development and support of (Vapor Cycle) Environmental Control System (VCS/ECS) products for commercial and military ground and airborne platforms.
Responsibilities
•Architecting vapor cycle system products
•Defining system and component level functional, performance, and interface requirements necessary to comply with customer requirements.
•Defining control law, built-in test, software, safety, reliability, and maintainability requirements for the product.
•Performing thermal analysis of vapor cycle systems to verify the proposed design meets product performance requirements.
•Conducting and coordinating detailed phases of new product development work as the program technical lead.
•Working directly with internal and external customers and suppliers to resolve technical issues, including presentations to company and customer executives throughout the product life cycle.
•Performing system integration, design assurance testing, and qualification testing.
•Supporting integration of the product at the aircraft level.
•Providing specialized support in solving technical, programmatic, or team problems.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in the commercial and military aircraft business and possess many of the attributes listed below:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. Master’s Degree a plus.
•10+ years of experience in mechanical and thermal design and analysis, system and feedback controls performance, fluid dynamics, test engineering and a good knowledge of principles and practices of related specialties.
•Demonstrated capabilities in failure analysis and troubleshooting of complex systems.
•Extensive knowledge of thermal heat transfer or refrigeration cycles is preferred.
•Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
•Ability and willingness to travel approximately 5-10%.
