Triumph Engine Control Systems is a leading independent aerospace fuel systems supplier for the commercial, military, helicopter, and business jet markets. Based in West Hartford, CT, Triumph employs approximately 550 employees. The Company’s key products and services include electronic engine controls, fuel metering units, and main fuel pumps for both the OE and aftermarket / spares end markets.


We are currently seeking a talented Materials Engineer to join our Hydro Mechanical Engineering organization in West Hartford.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide materials and processing support for production, development and R&D hardware for mechanical and electronic gas turbine engine controls and fuel systems.
  • Recommend materials, processes and NDT methods for development and production hardware. 
  • Perform failure analysis to establish root cause and corrective action. Perform materials characterization, process development and other materials/process evaluations. 
  • Review drawings and participate in design review activities.
  • Provide support to Quality and Manufacturing to resolve development or production issues. Assist in supplier audits and REACh compliance.
  • Evaluate new manufacturing methods and alloys.

The ideal candidate will have excellent organization skills and be able to effectively communicate with a variety of customers within all levels of the organization. S/he will be able to coordinate and manage multiple projects at the same time. The candidate must be able to work independently with little supervision and be able to work with others on cross-functional teams. Occasional travel may be required.

Education & Experience
  • BS in Materials Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering required.
  • Two years minimum in an aerospace engineering environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of high reliability Electronics manufacturing (soldering and associated processes) a plus.
  • Working knowledge of metallographic sample preparation and use of metallurgical lab equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand complex drawings.
