Manufacturing Engineer

Position
We have an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our West Hartford, CT team. The Manufacturing Engineer will develop robust processes for CNC and non-CNC machining centers. The position entails driving process improvements, ensuring components are manufacturable, and offer technical expertise to the production shop floor. Manufacturing support by way of technical dispositions, process documentation, and manufacturing controls are also required. Strong problem-solving skills is a must to eliminate waste and drive efficiency throughout the manufacturing process. Qualified candidates must have strong mechanical and manufacturing knowledge. Candidates must be fluent in CAD and CAM software.
Responsibilities
•Plans and designs complete manufacturing processes utilizing various machining strategies to produce conforming parts consistently.
•Create manufacturing process documentation (process sketches, tool sheets, setup sheets, etc.)
•Properly utilize GD&T while drafting process sketches.
•Define necessary tooling and gages; and procure them when necessary.
•Using CAD for 3D modeling and drafting, design custom tooling, fixtures, and gages.
•Provide quotation for making parts in-house.
•Create programs for CNC machines. Troubleshoot and edit as necessary.
•Be knowledgeable about various manufacturing capabilities. Provide floor support and troubleshoot problems when issues arise.
•Review engineering designs and evaluate manufacturability of the part. Decide if part is to be accepted into production.
•Provide manufacturing process training to operators when necessary.
•Maximize efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization.
•Develop and utilize analytical and visual tools to assist and improve production and planning processes.
•Perform root cause and correct action activities to support quality requirements.
•Analyze manufacturing capacity.
•Work closely with other departments to meet both internal and external customer expectations.
•Provide technical support regarding all safety and ergonomics issues within the manufacturing department.
Qualifications
•Minimum 2-year associate degree in an engineering related field
•3+ years of manufacturing or process planning experience.
•3+ years CNC machining experience
•CAD modeling and drafting experience using NX or equivalent.
•Programming CNC machines using CAM software.
•Ability to read, understand, and edit CNC programs (G & M codes)
•Capable of effectively reading blueprints, specifications, and repair/overhaul manuals
•Working knowledge of GD&T
•Strong analytical skills, including data mining, formatting, and analysis.
•Ability to create and manage manufacturing data, database reports, dashboards, and visualizations.
•Experience with ERP systems and data analytics
•Familiarity with aerospace quality systems and manufacturing requirements
•Gear manufacturing a plus
•Familiarity with aerospace standards a plus
•Good writing ability, strong computer knowledge, and must be self-motivated with good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
