Inventory Analyst

Overview

 

Triumph Systems, Electronics & Controls is a leading independent aerospace fuel system supplier for the commercial, military, helicopter and business jet markets. Based in West Hartford, CT, Triumph employs approximately 550 employees. The Company’s key products and services include electronic engine controls, fuel metering units and main fuel pumps for both the OE and aftermarket / spares end markets.

 

We are seeking a second shift Inventory Analyst for our Planning Department in our West Hartford facility.  The Inventory Analyst is responsible for completing all required JDE transactions that support product shipments and inventory management.  They will help prioritize the work of other Departments in support of on-time product shipments and assist in resolving issues preventing product shipment. The Inventory Analyst will expedite material, internally and externally, in support of production requirements and complete other assigned tasks that support Materials Planning Department objectives.

Responsibilities

 

  • Perform material transactions and item master updates in MRP system (JD Edwards) including material issues to work orders, part transfers, sales order picks, inventory adjustments, inventory reclassifications, and part location changes.
  • Compile and maintain material and parts inventory and status information to expedite movement of material and parts between production areas, according to pre-determined production schedules and order priorities.
  • Read production schedules, inventory reports, and work orders to determine the type and quantity of materials required, availability of stock, and order priority.
  • Confer with department supervisors and/or Planners to determine overdue material and parts and to inform supervisors and/or Planners of material status.
  • Utilize knowledge of customer demand to coordinate the shipment of product with Inspection, Contracts, and Shipping personnel.
  • Support weekly cycle count process which includes counting parts, data entry, running reconciliation reports, and performing root cause analysis.
  • Maintain inventory location accuracy including the physical movement of parts.
  • Identify opportunities for costs, inventory, and lead time improvements, etc. throughout the manufacturing process. Develop new tools or methodologies to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Conduct various inventory analyses and develop recommendations to facilitate inventory reduction, efficiency, and best practices.
  • Support Materials Management inventory reduction activities via analysis and via development of reports and various tools. Support various SIOP processes and requests.
  • Develop inventory metrics and provide root cause analysis as required.
  • Support the investigation and resolution of manufacturing material variances.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain or related field. Recent college graduates considered.
  • 2 years of ERP/MRP requirements planning experience with in a fast-paced, complex manufacturing environment.
  • 3 years of demonstrated materials management experience to include, material expediting, inventory management/control or continuous improvement experience.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal and customer service skills, and be extraordinarily detail oriented and process driven.
  • Requires a high level of organizational and planning skills as well as logic skills to solve problems of a systemic nature.
  • Ability to work with associates at a variety of levels within a manufacturing environment.
  • Good computer skills including advance Excel skills; JD Edwards experience preferred.
  • Inventory Management knowledge (i.e. How to ensure accurate inventory record keeping in an ERP system, ending inventory projection/forecasting, etc.)

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

 

  • 3 years of experience in developing and implementing inventory strategies in support of an overall company initiative of reducing inventory.
  • Experience with Bill of Materials and Routings within a JD Edwards MRP (or comparable) system.
  • Experience working within a company’s cycle count process and procedures.
  • APICS certification.
