Based in West Hartford, CT, Triumph Systems, Electronics and Controls is a leading independent aerospace system supplier for the commercial and military helicopter and business jet markets and employs approximately 500 employees. The Company’s key products and services include electronic engine controls, fuel metering units, main fuel pumps and environmental control systems for both the OE and aftermarket/spares end markets.
Responsibilities
We have an exciting opportunity for a Materials Engineer Intern to join our team in West Hartford, CT. The Materials Engineer Intern will support a range of responsibilities in the aerospace industry. The internship will provide a college-level student with practical experience related to their major that will enhance and complement classroom learning. At the West Hartford facility, the intern will gain exposure to materials engineering responsibilities related to highly engineered aerospace components. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, a keen interest in materials science, and a desire to learn in a dynamic, hands-on environment.
- Provide materials and processing support to production and assembly departments
- Assist with development / R&D programs for mechanical and electronic gas turbine engine controls, fuel systems, and fueldraulic actuators
- Provide engineering support for field service investigations including performing failure analysis to establish root cause and corrective action
- Assist with REACH and other environmental compliance requirements reported to customers
Qualifications
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with a GPA of 3.0 or greater
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Excellent writing, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Good interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels in the organization
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Experience with NX software a plus
- Must be capable of sitting or standing in a laboratory environment for prolonged periods of time
- Must be capable of lifting items with a weight of up to 15 pounds
- Candidates must be a US Citizen or a US Permanent Resident
