Job Summary: The Procurement Manager is directly responsible for the planning, organizing, and execution of strategic and tactical procurement activities for direct purchases across multiple commodities within the guidelines Triumph Group’s policies and procedures while supporting the operational and financial goals and objectives of the Company and maintaining the highest ethical standards.
Major Accountabilities:
Manage a group of supply chain professionals including but not limited to tactical buyers and commodity leaders, as assigned and their overall scope of responsibilities.
Manage the buying of critical components and commodities for production across multiple value streams.
Manage material procurement activities from external and internal entity suppliers, scheduling, ordering, and expediting material needs.
Partnering and collaborating closely with Material Control, Scheduling, Manufacturing and Shipping / Receiving management to report status and define priorities to meet production schedules.
Manage elevated emergencies, part shortages, and expedite when necessary. Work closely with Strategic Sourcing group to determine long-term preventative measures.
Maintain constant liaison and communicate effectively with suppliers and internal operating departments to ensure constant status on the material requirements of various programs.
Develop material procurement and supplier management policies and procedures through work instructions for supply chain.
Responsible for supplier management to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction through lean tools.
Provide daily procurement priority and status to various internal stakeholders.
Automate and standardize buying process across value streams using tools such as Kanban, blanket orders, and auto-releases.
Identify and assist with resolving issues that delay material deliveries.
Lead cross-functional teams focused on supplier lead-time reduction.
Lead special projects as assigned. Participate, lead, and facilitate Continuous Improvement and Lean activities. Participate in cost reduction activities.
Provide strategic procurement and other programs that leverage the overall operations of Triumph with measurable financial results.
Prepare and monitor the budget, staffing, and business / operational results of the purchasing organization. Responsible for maintaining and reporting of departmental metrics (e.g., on-time in full, buyer performance) on a bi-weekly / monthly basis to senior management. • Attend, contribute, and represent the Procurement Group at regularly scheduled SIOP and other supply and demand planning meetings. • Responsible for implementation and maintenance of the Supplier Web Portal, including supplier communications and supplier metric packages.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required.
3-5 years of experience in a professional purchasing role, with at least 2 years in a managerial / supervision position
Requires strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills in a high-volume work environment.
Must have a practical working knowledge of ERP / MRP systems. An Equal Opportunity Employer M/W/D/V Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS office applications especially Power Point and Excel with the ability to learn new programs that may be job specific.
Must have demonstrated ability to lead continuous improvement / Lean efforts and cost reduction initiatives.
Travel requirements up to 20%
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Applied knowledge of Lean / 6 Sigma Supply Chain or other continuous improvement methodologies in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of how to effectively operate in a government regulated procurement environment (FAR, DFARS, CPSR, MMAS)
Strong working knowledge of US Customs laws and Harmonized Tariff Classification.
Familiarity with export control regulations (ITAR / EAR) is a plus.
Previous offshore management / sourcing / international trade issues / customs law compliance is a plus.
Demonstrated knowledge of international commercial contracts (including international conventions), commercial contracting methods and export regulation is highly desired.
Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
