Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the core Industrial Engineering processes used to support assigned Product Team(s) including, but not limited to: developing and maintaining standard hour content, item & station charts, crew load charts and machine load charts; reporting performance; forecasting headcount requirements; allocating labor budgets; establishing MOQs and flow times; and developing recovery plans.
  • Responsible for providing leadership and assistance to the assigned Product Team(s) in the deployment of processes (Lean, 6-Sigma, Management Operating System (MOS), Quality Control Process Charting (QCPC, etc.) in support of the team’s continuous improvement activities and goals.
  • Assure each Industrial Engineer applies the tools and principles to existing processes to eliminate waste, reduce defects, create continuous process flows, level shop workloads, and develop standardized tasks and processes.
  • Assure each Industrial Engineer develops and implements ergonomically correct changes to workplace layouts to improve shop safety and reduce the occurrence of employee injuries.
  • Recruit, hire, train and develop qualified Industrial Engineers to support the assigned Product Team’s assembly program or fabrication processes. Assess assigned employee performance, provide guidance for improving performance and, if necessary, take remedial action with low performing employees.
  • Prepare an annual operating plan for the assigned Product Team Industrial Engineering organization and manage the organization according to that plan. Analyze variances to plan and initiate actions to mitigate those which are unfavorable.
  • Provide career development opportunities to match the needs of assigned industrial engineers. Support the career development plans of subordinates as well as other Product Team members.
  • Manage the functionality of systems that are used by Industrial Engineering to perform its forecasting and performance measurement responsibilities: Qlik, the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and the MS Access-based Forecasting Module.

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will typically have BA/BS or equivalent and 10 years of related experience.
  • Requires proven leadership skills in addition to strong organization and communication skills.
  • Requires knowledge of Productions methods as well as knowledge of Aerospace products.
  • Requires knowledge of lean principles as demonstrated through minimum green belt certification.
