Responsibilities

Supplier Quality Engineer III

Develops, implements, and evaluates supplier quality process control systems, procedures, and statistical methods to evaluate supplier process and product quality in an aerospace structures environment. Tracks quality metrics and interfaces with suppliers to improve quality of incoming parts.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work to resolve quality issues and provide guidance on process enhancements and improvements.
  • Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
  • Performing regular quality control audits to ensure vendors continue to work in compliance with company and federal standards.
  • Develop and track supplier quality metrics including defect rates to drive improvements.
  • Support training and employee evaluation process in regard to the QMS is appropriate and effective for preventing nonconforming product and customer complaints.
  • Conduct detection and prevention methodologies such as process error proofing and layered auditing.
  • Adherence to contract compliance through root cause analysis & determination and corrective and preventative action.
  • Interfaces with suppliers and customers.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related engineering, science or logistics and a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
    OR
  • High School Diploma and a minimum of 10 years in supplier quality engineering role.
     
  • Good working knowledge of quality control standards
  • Experience with aerospace manufacturing and production processes and engineering principles.
  • Ability to provide guidance to improve quality processes and efficiencies.
  • Excellent communication and liaison skills.
  • Ability to work with cross functional departments and effectively communicate technically.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and provide solutions.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks/priorities.
  • Experience reviewing, analyzing, and reporting on quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior aircraft manufacturing experience.
  • Supplier and customer interface experience preferred.
  • Visual Basic experience.
  • FAA, QMS - Audit (AS9100), PPAP experience preferred.
  • RCCA / Lean Manufacturing / 6 Sigma.
