Responsibilities

The purpose of this position is to: Supervise and direct all activities regarding receiving, shipping, storeroom and inventory control. Receive, handle, count, identify, locate and record all received material and/or finished product being shipped. Supervise and direct shipping & receiving department employees

Essential Functions of the Position
Supervise and direct shipping / receiving employees and ensure 100% on time delivery.
Develop work instruction / procedures and conduct employee training as required.
Maintain up-to-date records of all material transactions in MRP system.
Maintain storeroom inventory, locations and records. Prepare and issue parts to job orders, stock tickets or material requests.
Ensure all received material is properly routed and inspected as required.
Operate fork trucks, hand trucks and other material handling equipment as required. Load trucks or work with common carriers to ship products.
Pack and mark finished products for shipment to various customers in accordance with customer requirements
Maintain files and record of shipping/receiving documents.
Coordinate all inventory control activities and maintain accurate inventory reports in MRP system.
Promote teamwork and build a culture of continuous improvement and employee empowerment.
Promote safety and adhere to all company policies, procedures and work instructions.
Identify and implement productivity improvements in assigned areas.

 This position occupies a typical plant work cubicle and plant/manufacturing environment.   Exposure to weather elements is unlikely.   Incumbents will drive a motorized plant vehicle in the course of performing their job responsibilities.   Incumbents spend approximately 25% sitting, 25% standing, and 50% walking while performing their job responsibilities and are unlikely to handle materials weighing more than 40 pounds without mechanical assistance.   Incumbents will use the following office machines / equipment / tools in the course of performing their duties: computers, copiers, measuring equipment, hand tools and other similar production equipment.

Qualifications

Incumbents will possess

-    Associate’s degree or completion of a technical specialty program or equivalent combination of education and training required. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in-depth specialized training program preferred.
    
    Education preferably in shipping, business or related with over 3 years of relevant experience in shipping, receiving, materials coordination and logistics.
    
    A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Tools is required.

    Work in this position requires: 
    
-    High level of judgment, analytic ability and creativity, such as investigating moderately complex problems or situations, analyzing information, and recommending solutions
    
-    Performance of complex tasks requiring extensive knowledge of Department’s work

This position does require participation in the interpretation and/or application of company and department policy.

Incumbents in this position will use the following defined work procedures such as manuals / guidelines / and/or references: manufacturing instructions, quality regulations, BOM, blueprints and similar manufacturing instructions

This position has full supervisory responsibility over all positions in the assigned work group.
