Summary

Perform bench assembly and a variety of other assembly operation to assemble and inspect components, sub-assemblies and system controls.

Responsibilities

  • Perform some trouble-shooting and rework of production items.
  • Must be able to work from semi-complex and detailed component drawings, sub assembly, and assembly blueprints, schematics and/or verbal and written instructions.
  • Tools and gages not limited to standard hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, micrometers, calipers, etc.), crimpers, solder stations and electrical test boxes.
  • Experience in soldering, wire wrapping, and cable harnessing.
  • Experience in set up of equipment and grinding, arbor press, drilling and tapping equipment operations.
  • Able to read and use precision measuring tools.
  • Make set-ups and operate related equipment, operate applicable test equipment and perform applicable inspections / tests as required including receiving inspection, in-process inspection, part layout, ATP and final inspection.
  • Complete all related paperwork and documentation.
  • Work from assembly drawings, identify parts, and predetermined assembly sequence documentation.  Trouble-shoot assembled controls as required. 
  • Operate machines, equipment or hand tools relative to the operation and perform fittings and adjustments as required.

Continued Responsibilities

  • Detect and request replacement for defective work or incorrect parts including all appropriate paperwork. Report all unusual conditions to the Supervisor/Engineer.
  • Evaluate, disassemble, repair and reassemble returned or salvaged units.
  • Receive and inspect parts.
  • Prepare parts for shipment to sub-contractors for outside processing.
  • Pack and mark finished product for shipment to various customers in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Train other employees as required.
  • Work closely with customer representatives as needed.
  • Notify supervisors of any non-conformance. 
  • Keep Management appraised and report all unusual conditions to Production Tech and/or Supervisor.
  • Participate as a team member and work to continually improve all aspects of our business.
  • Work safely and adhere to all company policies, procedures and work instructions.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, (GED) or equivalent.
  • 2-4 years of experience preferred.
  • General mechanical knowledge/background.
  • Safe use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to follow instruction. (oral and written).
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.  Prefer ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical diagrams.
  • Intermediate computer skills. 
  • Substantial judgment and analytic ability requiring somewhat complex calculations and  solving minor problems.

    Performance of complex tasks requiring extensive knowledge of Department’s work.

    This position does require the participation, in the interpretation and/or application of department policy.

    Incumbents in this position will use the following defined work procedures such as manuals / guidelines / and/or references: Blue Prints, BOM, work orders
