We are currently seeking a Senior Additive Manufacturing Design Engineer for our Seattle, WA location. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who can work with minimal direction, has strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, and can successfully collaborate across organizations and functions.
Your main objective will be to successfully implement Additive Manufacturing to push innovative products forward across the company. The Senior Design Engineer is a key contributor to the Triumph Group mission by providing knowledge of DFAM, current AM technologies, and a working understanding of design analysis and verification to support AM production across the Triumph Group.
 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum Required Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred.
- 10+ years aerospace industry experience or equivalent in the design field.
- 4+ years industry experience working with additive manufacturing.
- Proficiency with general ME CAD tools: NX, SolidWorks, Creo Parametric. Pro-E, Creo
- Experience creating engineering drawings, applying ASME 14.1 and Y14.5 standards.
- Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
- Knowledge of thermal distortion, residual stress analysis, and support structure design.
- Prior experience and successes applying generative design principles for light-weighting, heat exchangers, topology optimization, lattice design structures etc.
- Experience with aerospace metallic materials (Titanium, aluminum, CRES, nickel alloys, etc.).
- Familiarity with standard methods for testing mechanical properties (including fatigue, fracture, creep, stress rupture) of metallic materials.
- Knowledge of industry standards for material data analysis (e.g. MMPDS).
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100.
- Must be a current U.S citizen or U.S Resident/Green Card holder.


Preferred Skills and Competencies:
- Experience in structural FEA using Abaqus/SIMULIA, ANSYS, NASTRAN or similar tools.
- Experience with statistical analysis methods and related tools.
- Experience working directly with additive manufacturing systems, specifically Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) systems.
