Responsibilities

Triumph Group Inc. is a leader in the design, development, manufacture, repair, sales, and life cycle support of aircraft control and actuation systems and structures. Triumph Aerospace Systems Seattle’s function is to design and integrate systems and structures aboard customer airframes utilizing the broad capabilities of the companies within Triumph Group.

Triumph is seeking a versatile, detail-oriented Firmware Engineer to assist in electronics, systems, development, and test. The position will be heavily engaged with engineering, program management, customers, suppliers, and manufacturing of motor and motion control systems. The individual must know the important elements in system, hardware and software engineering, have a great sense of detail, know how to take on various duties in a short time, and be able to take initiative when needed.

Essential Function of the Job:
1)    Perform detailed software design and development including code analysis, test script development, and qualification
2)    Perform initial bring-up of new circuit board designs and perform detailed verification, integration, and troubleshooting to ensure software functions as intended
3)    Contribute to project proposals, feasibility studies, trade studies, and proof of concept development to support current programs and ensure future program successes
4)    Must be a self-starter willing to learn and take on new challenges
5)    Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills
6)    Provide support to identify root cause for failures and manage software patching during development test 
7)    Prepare technical documentation as well as design review materials
8)    Collaborate with system-level, hardware and software design engineers to develop designs on aggressive time schedules
9)    Prepare and conduct manual and automated tests
10)    Occasional travel to Triumph Redmond site or customer sites for debugging and testing may be necessary (<10%)

Qualifications


Requirements:
1)    Bachelor’s degree in CS, EE or related, 8-10 years’ experience, Masters strongly preferred
2)    C, C++ programming for embedded systems
3)    Writing and debugging real time, safety critical code
4)    Understanding of external communication protocols, such as Ethernet, Serial, USB, etc., and inter-board communication protocols such as parallel, SPI and I2C
5)    Interpreting datasheets for writing low level device drivers
6)    Use of version control and build systems
7)    Ability to debug firmware/hardware interaction as needed using diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers

Desired Skills:
1)    GUI Development
2)    Altium
3)    Python
4)    Matlab/Simulink
5)    Familiarity with kernel level programming and debugging, understanding of impact of software on hardware preferred
6)    Familiarity with Eclipse based software development environments preferred.
7)    Interfacing with analog systems, high speed signals, and implementation of real time control loops experience preferred
8)    Power electronics or motor controls or actuation systems, electric machine drives

Salary Range: $106,200 - $159,400
