Based in Park City, UT, Triumph Geared Solutions is a leading independent aerospace gear and gear box supplier for the commercial and military helicopter and business jet markets and employs approximately 200 employees. The Company’s key products and services include power transmission systems, integrated gearbox design and builds, airframe mounted accessor drives (AMAD’s), engine mounted accessory drives (EMAD’s), rotorcraft transmissions, turboshaft internal gearboxes, emergency power gearboxes, and large complex aero gears for both OE and aftermarket/spares end markets.
Park City, UT lies east of Salt Lake City in the western state of Utah. Framed by the craggy Wasatch Range, it’s bordered by the Deer Valley Resort and the huge Park City Mountain Resort, both known for their ski slopes.
Overview
We are currently seeking a early to mid-level Quality Engineer for our Park City, UT Location.
We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is able to work with minimal direction, has strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, and has the ability to successfully collaborate across organizations and functions.
Responsibilities
- Daily collaboration with cross-functional teams including operations, engineering, manufacturing, and inspection to ensure high quality product is delivered to our customers
- Understand and analyze complex problems and derive solutions
- Effectively communicate technical issues, solutions, ideas and concepts to a diverse audience including Program Managers, Customers, and Executive Management
- Determine material review board dispositions for product nonconformances
- Use data analytics for products/processes to investigate nonconformance history, identify trends, and drive action to reduce defects
- Identify opportunities for quality improvements and remove non-value added waste
- Lead and participate in nonconformance investigations to analyze and determine root cause, define corrective actions, and ensure corrective action implementation is effective
- Participate in program and quality assurance reviews
- Track and report monthly quality performance metrics
- Review customer drawings and specifications and to fully understand requirement flowdowns
- Prepare and review quality documentation including policies, procedures, processes, and First Articles to ensure compliance to internal and external requirements
- Conduct internal audits of products, processes and procedures and act as a credible escort for internal and external auditors
- Understand the design intent, requirements and specifications of our products as well as the manufacturing processes, process controls and failure modes
- Provide support in development and evaluation of product and process capability, process control plans, analysis of conditions, and process audits with the objective of improving process performance and capability.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM)
- 3+ years of experience in a Quality Role in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interface with an organization at all levels
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
- Demonstrated work ethic
- Strong attention to detail
- AS9100 Experience
- Ability to take the initiative to become involved in activities to help resolve problems and make improvements
- Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM)
- 6+ years of experience in a Quality Role in a manufacturing environment
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Trained
- Experience with Dimensional Inspection Techniques
- Lean or Six Sigma experience
- Experience with Advanced Quality Processes (PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, 8D, A3 Problem Solving)
- Compliance and Regulatory experience
- Understanding and use of the DMAIC Process: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control
- Experience facilitating effective Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA)
- Working knowledge of Material Review Board (MRB) standards, practices and Customer engagement.
- Experience with New Product Introduction and Program Start-up
- Proven track record of understanding and managing First Article Inspection
- Skilled in customer interaction
