Overview

 

We are currently seeking a Quality Engineering Manager for our Park City, UT Location.

 

The Quality Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading a team of approximately 10 Quality Engineers at our Park City Facility.  The Quality Engineering team is comprised of Customer-facing Program Quality Engineers and internal-facing Factory Quality Engineers.  The QE Manager will ensure QEs workloads are balanced and that they have the support they need to fulfill their duties, while guiding and mentoring them to work with their counterparts in other organizations for creative solutions to problems to enable quality product to keep flowing.   The QE Manager will develop the QEs to ensure they are always expanding their skill sets and cross-training to avoid single point failures of resources.  They will lead their team in data trending to identify defect trends and drive actions to reduce/eliminate them to decrease the overall cost of poor quality.  They will work with our Design Engineering team on New Product Introduction (NPI) programs to ensure quality is built into the design at the beginning with proper requirements capturing and validation. 

Responsibilities

 

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Program Quality Engineers and Factory Quality Engineers.
  • Balance and manage the Quality Engineering workload among staff
  • Hold daily meetings with the Quality Engineering team to support workload leveling, resolve roadblocks, and escalate issues where warranted
  • Trend defects and work collaboratively with the Manufacturing Engineering team to initiate actions/projects to reduce top defects
  • Ensure defect data is clear, correct, and thorough and appropriate RCCA is being performed to prevent recurrence
  • Compile data and create monthly DPMO and CoPQ metrics for various levels of the company
  • Chair and lead Corrective Action Boards to address trends across programs, value streams, and the site as a whole
  • Manage the performance of the team, including development actions to further individual’s capabilities and eliminate single point failures
  • Contribute and participate in providing guidance and improvements to the site’s Quality Management System
  • Support and assist in AS9100 audits, customer audits, and internal audits
  • Promote people development by actively engaging in coaching, mentoring, knowledge transfer, training, performance management and career development

Basic Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math)
  • 5+ years of Manufacturing and Quality Assurance experience in Aerospace or other complex manufacturing industry with exacting requirements
  • 2+ years of relevant people management
  • Experience with AS9100
  • Compliance and Regulatory experience
  • Strong Root Cause and Corrective Action skills
  • Ability to effectively lead a team of diverse backgrounds and experience
  • Competency and aptitude for influencing organizational cultural change
  • Organizational skills, creativity, problem solving, and visionary forward thinking skills
  • Accomplished in building positive relationships with co-workers, suppliers, and customers
  • Strong facilitation, oral and written communications to all levels within the organization and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Quality Management, or similiar
  • 8+ years of Manufacturing and Quality Assurance experience in Aerospace or other complex manufacturing industry with exacting requirements
  • 5+ years of relevant people management
  • AS9100 Lead Auditor Certification
  • Lean 6 Sigma Certification
  • Experience with SPC and Control Plans
  • Experience with Advanced Quality Processes (PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, 8D, A3 Problem Solving)
  • Experience with 3rd Party Registrars
