Overview
Plating Operators will operate or tend machines and process of masking, blasting and chemical treatment of metal parts. Operators must reference the applicable provisional standards. They will accurately perform necessary paperwork daily, including department paperwork, scrap reporting, time card submission, move ticket, etc. Operators also perform procedures necessary to ensure compliance with TGS Safety Process and ensure the personal safety of the incumbent and others including eye safety, hearing conservation, machine safety guarding, ergonomic movement, lock out/tag out, and MSDS procedures, and OHSA regulations. They will monitor and plan efficient part flow through heat treat area, including the loading and unloading of equipment.
Responsibilities
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

- Cleans oxides and scale from parts or fittings, using steam spray or immersing parts in chemical and water baths.
- Racks parts for optimal processing.
- Masking parts by reading sketch sheets.
- Utilizes measuring devices (I.E. calipers etc.).
- Tests parts to ensure they conform to all requirements.
- Examines parts to ensure metal shade and color conform to specifications, utilizing knowledge of metal heat-treating.
- Removes parts from furnace after specified time and air dries or cools parts in water or oil brine or other baths.
- Reduces heat and allows parts to cool in furnace.
Qualifications
- Effectively use and comprehend basic computer skills including basic computer hardware and software to perform work functions.
- Gain an efficient understanding of TGS Computer systems.
- One-year experience in production experience in manufacturing environment or equivalent is preferred.
- Experience with measuring devices in Aerospace environment
