Chemical Lab Technician

Responsibilities

 

  • Performs a variety of technical procedures such as preparing routine solutions and reagents and performing routine reactions to determine solution concentrations.
  • Make and record observations, performs simple calculations, and collects and prepares data for evaluation.
  • Conducts laboratory support functions such as stocking and distributing supplies and equipment, arranging and dismantling apparatus, and collecting, washing, and storing glassware.
  • Inspect incoming chemicals and verify certifications for quality assurance.
  • Execute daily, weekly and monthly responsibilities to adhere to industry, customer and company requirements.
  • Use computer to perform all technical and record keeping duties in conformance with company and regulatory procedures and standards to meet quality and accuracy requirements.
  • Perform technical procedures in one or more of the following areas: production, research and development, quality control/assurance, and/or compliance/environmental.
  • Complete and manage records that conform to company requirements and regulatory requirements.
  • Can be trained to perform technical procedures such as microhardness sample preparation and analysis and microstructure evaluations.
  • Can be trained to understand Heat Treat processes and how these processes can change the form and function of low alloy metals.

Qualifications

 

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Knowledge of Physical Sciences preferably in Chemistry
  • Demonstrate initiative, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn
  • Able to follow instructions and act with integrity
  • Strong understanding of math and chemistry

  • Able to work and communicate with a diverse group of people
  • Ability to distinguish between colors and shards of colors
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload and effectively balance tasks
  • Knowledge of laboratory functions and safety regulations
  • Basic computer skills
  • Data analysis skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and specifications, recommended but not required
