Responsibilities
- Design and analysis of integrated hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication and cooling systems within precision Gear Systems including Aerospace Actuators, Accessory Gearboxes, Propeller Drives, and Power Generation Gearboxes.
- Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics and Thermal Conductivity analysis to ensure gear systems maintain proper fluid flow, lubrication, and heat is transferred to prevent overheating of components.
- Maintain the technical knowledge and awareness of developments related to aircraft drive systems through documentation of lessons learned, process and procedure development, and staying abreast of current technology breakthroughs.
- Work with Project Engineering and Systems Engineering to manage master schedules, requirements documents, and compliance matrices
- Timely preparation of associated engineering documentation including but not limited to Analysis Reports, Qualification Reports, Failure Investigations Reports, Project Plans, Test Plans, Project deliverable documents and Engineering Changes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with eight years of relevant design experience on aerospace gear systems, transmissions, actuation, or similar related industry preferred.
- Proficiency in CFD and thermal conductivity analytical software tools required such as Flownex.
- Understanding of design and troubleshooting of high-speed rotating equipment including bearings and spur, helical and bevel gear design (AGMA)(CAGE)(ISO).
- Understanding of housing and cover design including integration of lubrication and cooling into castings.
- Experience in mechanical system design, integration and development.
- High proficiency in written and verbal communication with the ability to compose test procedures and engineering reports.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with 3D Modeling software is preferred.
- Familiarity with formal Qualification Standards such as DO160, MIL-STD-810 and/or EUROCAE ED-14 is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to support Project Engineering and Project Schedules.
- Advanced Excel skills is preferred.
- Strong mechanical interface and application knowledge with demonstrated experience in meeting customer specification requirements, schedules, and cost goal expectations.
