Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of the manufacturing processes and driving CI activities throughout the business. They will manage the New Product Introduction (NPI) team (50%) and support the day-to-day activities by carrying out defined work or leading projects within the business (50%). The role is responsible for implementing and maintaining cost effective manufacturing solutions and establish a continuous improvement culture within the business.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•    Responsible for providing leadership to the NPI team. Strong management skills are required to lead, coach, mentor, and develop the team, ensuring efficiency and collaboration.
•    Champions operational excellence by leading the transformation, education and culture change in all departments. 
•    Developing and continually improving current manufacturing processes utilizing the skills of the NPI team. Collaborate with the team to introduce universal work holding, tooling and measuring packages.
•    Improving and documenting the NPI process to promote additional work enquires.
•    Leading change management and CI projects within the business.
•    Lead the NPI process from quotation to delivery of a capable documented process to the operations team that meets the customers Quality & Delivery expectations.
•    Supports, strengthens, and evolves the High-Performance Team (HPT) structure.
•    Driving improvements throughout the whole process, driving down lead-time and cycle-times, ensuring processes reduce Cost of Quality (COQ) and reduce Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) impact.
•    Ensure that all manufacturing designs, processes and technical data are complete and accurately documented to provide a technical/ historical base for future reference and to meet customer/ end user requirements.
•    Be actively engaged in daily meetings and the MRB (Material Review Board) to support short-term objectives and resolve issues through immediate root cause corrective action.
•    Define capital investment and expense needs, from preparation of approvals to complete introduction of the capital investment.
•    Identify and implement new technology to actively improve the current process.
•    Lead the recruitment for engineering apprentices.  Mentor and develop them to ensure they maximise their true potential. 
•    Establish a structure for the ongoing training and development of employees within the facility.
•    Completion of any additional work-related tasks, which would be deemed reasonable of this role.
