Position Overview

Provide technical support in Quality Assurance and leadership to build and sustain a best practice Quality System which meets the full requirements of the AS9100 quality standards and FAA Quality System Regulation.

Responsibilities

  • Owner of product quality from start to finish (design, incoming, in-process, outgoing, returns).
  • Lead the product quality, testing and continuous improvement processes.
  • Oversees non-conforming material handling and disposition of material (MRB).
  • Issues internal and external corrective action requests and evaluates acceptability of responses.
  • Reviews outgoing purchase orders for the inclusion of quality assurance provisions.
  • Manage the QC Inspection process including incoming, in process and outgoing product.
  • Supervises union QC Inspection staff who conduct the incoming, in-process and outgoing product inspections.
  • Reviews customer contracts and purchase orders and plans for all required quality assurance activities that are needed.
  • Manage the outgoing quality assurance process.
  • Participate in the Advanced Quality Planning process for new product.
  • Reviews new designs and engineering changes for the inclusion of quality assurance requirements.

  • Revise, review and approves process or operations instructions as necessary.
  • Tracks and generates statistical data when required by customers.
  • Writes acceptance test and qualification test reports and procedures.
  • Develop inspection, test and work instructions as required.
  • Provide cross functional support to other Quality Department functions.
  • Participates in Federal Aviation Administration activities including: Repair Station, Parts Manufacturing.
  • Lead the continuous improvement effort utilizing continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
  • Liaison to customer to support customer needs and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Representative for the customer compliant process.
  • Support internal auditing system to ensure full compliance to AS9100 quality regulations and requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent in-depth specialized training program.
  • 5+ years experience within an ISO, Aerospace or Automotive manufacturing organization.
  • Strong technical proficiency of Quality Management Systems with focus on Quality Assurance functions.
  • Strong technical understanding of quality processes within an ISO9001, AS9100/QS9000 quality environment – including participation in (external) supplier audits.
  • Understanding of product quality and reliability.
  • Proficiency in statistical sampling plans and Statistical Process Control.

  • Working knowledge of Process FMEA’s
  • Good understanding of principles of materials planning, logistics and procurement, with emphasis on lean manufacturing.
  • General experience with MRP systems and interactive planning tools, with SAP preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in TPM, 5S, Six Sigma, Lean, Visual Factory.
  • Requires flexible work schedule and support of weekend shipments.
  • Strong leadership skills and commitment to Quality, Teamwork and Leadership by example.
  • Ability to be hands on and multitask.
