Short Description

We are currently seeking a Quality Engineering Manager for our Macomb, MI Location.  This role will require an individual that is comfortable in a high paced dynamic and challenging environment.  We are looking for a strong people-oriented process minded leader who can work with minimal direction, has strong interpersonal skills and has the ability to successfully collaborate across organizations and functions. 


  • Act as the Quality Engineering functional manager for the Quality Engineering Staff as well as the Lead Quality Auditor ensuring that all customer, plant, and AS9100 needs are clearly communicated, understood, and adhered to. 
  • Set objective measurable expectations of personnel and communicate desired performance levels.  Assign and delegate tasks to personnel.  Monitor employees progress using PDCA methodology and ensuring target conditions are achieved by demonstrating a bias for action.  Drive celebration of achievements.
  • Facilitate the development, institution, verification, and communication of zero defect plans internally and to customers.
  • Foster strong working relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, engineering, manufacturing, and inspection to ensure robust irreversible corrective actions are delivered to our customers internally and externally.  Support in leading a zero-defect behavioral transformation throughout the plant.
  • Train and coach Quality Engineers by ensuring they can understand and analyze complex problems with demonstrated technical expertise. 
  • Effectively communicate technical issues, solutions, ideas, and concepts to a diverse audience including Program Managers, Customers, and Executive Management.
  • Ensure proper management and communication/escalation of customer issues to Site Quality Manager and Executive Management as required.
  • Lead daily material review board dispositions in support of customer concession submissions.
  • Use data analytics for products/processes to investigate/ generate nonconformance history, trends, and establish PDCAs to reduce defects to drive achievement of organization objectives for COPQ and DPMO.
  • Other duties as required.

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong human leadership skills, empathy, and proven coaching ability.
  • Strong ability to prioritize multiple issues under pressure and continuously lead change
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM)
  • 6+ years of relevant work experience
  • Strong knowledge of GDT and ability to develop and institute inspection requirements necessary to satisfy requirements.
  • AS9100 Experience 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM)
  • 5+ years of experience in a Quality Role in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven LEAN knowledge and evidence of leading projects.
  • Gear manufacturing and assembly experience
  • Experience with Dimensional Inspection Techniques
  • Lean or Six Sigma experience
  • Kaizen project leading ability
  • Experience with Advanced Quality Processes (PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, CP, 8D, A3 Problem Solving)
  • Understanding and use of the DMAIC Process: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control
  • Working knowledge of Material Review Board (MRB) standards, practices and Customer engagement.
