Job Summary

The 2nd Shift Machining Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the defined internal production team and meeting internal production KPIs through standard work and continuous improvement efforts. The scope includes allocating work to machines, managing priorities, and managing personnel.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for achieving department metrics for safety, quality, earned hours/delivery, indirect/DOI, Inventory, and efficiency.
  • Supports the company’s quality policies and implements guidelines to ensure adherence to the standards.
  • Supervisory responsibilities include training, following scheduling directions, monitoring work, providing feedback, performance reviews, career development, discipline, and resolving issues in accordance with company policies.
  • Directs activities according to production schedules and establishes priorities for scheduling machines, ensuring maximum utilization of assigned resources, machines, personnel, and materials.
  • Ensure the manufacturing organization fully complies with all regulating authorities, customers, and applicable workplace safety programs and requirements.
  • Develop and motivate team members to achieve the desired efficiency, proficiency, and cooperation, creating positive morale. Hold team-building events. 
  • Review and analyze potential scheduling issues and devise/implement procedures to minimize lost time incidents.
  • Review operational schedules, coordinate with production, and manage team member's assignments.
  • Direct cross-functional HPT to resolve potential machine or process issues.
  • Responsible for the execution of standard work on the team.
  • Create and support an environment to encourage open communications and cooperation at all levels of the organization.
  • Promote and build a safety-first culture.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Manufacturing or equivalent work experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills needed to lead cross functional team.
  • Strong decision - making skills for making timely and informed decisions.
  • ERP software experience – Visual and Visual Plus preferred
  • Excellent emotional and time management skills
  • Analytical skills for evaluating data to ensure the best processes.
  • Understand operational KPIs and what drives improvements.
  • Experience and fluent with Microsoft Office.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain seated for long periods of time while working on a computer or documentation, etc.
  • Must have manual dexterity to operate computer keyboard and standard office equipment
  • Must be capable of withstanding long period of viewing data on a computer screen and/or paper format
