Lathe Machinist - Day Shift

Overview

Triumph Gear Systems – Macomb is a world class manufacturer and supplier of complex gear assemblies, detail gears, and an array of components servicing the aerospace industry. We are deeply passionate about providing quality parts that exceed our customer expectations.

We manufacture gearbox assemblies, complete transmissions, detail gears and housings utilizing the latest manufacturing technologies and have fully integrated product testing and assembly capabilities.  In the military and commercial marketplace for both fixed wing and rotary aircraft, we ensure a broad range of products and product support with a single point of contact on some of the world’s best-known civilian and military aircraft platforms.
 

This position is for 1st shift, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM. Overtime is available with the business needs. 

Job Summary

The Lathe Machinist at Triumph Gear Systems is responsible for the operation and basic maintenance of CNC Lathes in the Lathe Department.  The Lathe Machinist must be able to produce high-quality products according to Triumph Gear Systems Lathe department operations manual.

Duties/Responsibilities

•    Read, interpret, and apply information from engineering drawings
•    Adhere to job plans per job travelers
•    Set-up multiple types of jobs with fixtures
•    Operate CNC Lathes
•    Basic Maintenance of CNC Lathes
•    Use precision measurement equipment
•    Install and maintain cutting tools
•    Consistently produce quality parts
•    Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques
•    Other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

•    High school diploma or equivalent required.
•    Post-secondary CNC related certificate or degree preferred.
•    Minimum of 2 years of Lathe operations.
•    Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment.
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
 

Physical Requirements

•    Good hand-eye coordination
•    Able to lift up to 25 lbs.
•    Able to stand for long periods of time
•    Ability to use hand tools
