Job Summary

We are seeking a Process and Tooling Engineer for our Macomb, MI facility. This position is a onsite role, responsible for developing and maintaining manufacturing process sketches, designing and ordering tooling, and troubleshooting shop-floor technical issues.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develop manufacturing processes from customer blueprints, from raw material through finished product or assembly.
  • Incorporate customer and internal change requests to improve processes or address amended requirements.
  • Review and interpret customer specifications, POs, and supplementary documents for incorporation into current and new processes.
  • Design and order tooling, including holding fixtures, quench plugs and dies, spline and functional gages, gear cutters, and gear grind wheels.
  • Read schematics/prints, follow procedures, and apply computer skills and technical knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems, including timing, programming, tooling, and other production issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred; equivalent related aerospace industry experience may be considered.
  • Gear or precision manufacturing experience, including tooling/fixture design, preferred.
  • Autodesk Inventor or other 3D modeling experience preferred.
  • Machining experience required; lathe, mill, and grinding experience preferred.
  • CNC programming knowledge a plus.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Proactive self-starter who can operate with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to make appropriate business judgments and independent decisions.
  • Ability to build effective relationships inside and outside the department.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to rapid changes in priorities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain seated for long periods while working on a computer or reviewing documentation.
  • Must have manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and standard office equipment.
  • Must be capable of viewing data on a computer screen and/or in paper format for long periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
