We are currently seeking a Gear System Design Engineer III to support our Park City, UT Location. This role will report through our Engineering department in Park City, UT with options to work from offices in Park City, UT, Las Colinas, TX and Macomb, MI. 25% Travel is required.



  • Design and analysis of precision Gear Systems including Aerospace Actuators, Accessory Gearboxes and Propeller Drives.  Other applications include Power Generation Gearboxes and Winch Drives.
  • Take ownership in the design and troubleshooting of high-speed rotating equipment including bearing analysis, spur, helical and bevel gear design and analysis (AGMA)(CAGE)(ISO).
  • Create complex tolerance stack up analysis and reports.
  • Maintain the technical knowledge and awareness of developments related to aircraft drive systems through documentation of lessons learned, process and procedure development, and staying abreast of current technology breakthroughs.
  • Integration with housings, covers, and lubrication and cooling systems.
  • Work with Project Engineering and Systems Engineering to manage master schedules, requirements documents, and compliance matrices
  • Timely preparation of associated engineering documentation including but not limited to Analysis Reports, Qualification Reports, Failure Investigations Reports, Project Plans, Test Plans, Project deliverable documents and Engineering Changes.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with six years of relevant design experience on aerospace systems.  Gears, transmissions, actuation, or similar related industry preferred.
  • Strong mechanical gear interface and application knowledge with experience in meeting customer requirements, schedules, manufacturability, and cost goal expectations.
  • Experience in mechanical system design, integration, and development.
  • Familiarity with through hardened, carburized, and nitrided steels.  Familiarity with aluminum and magnesium castings.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes such as milling, turning, grinding, lapping, honing, shaping, hobbing, EDM, casting, forging, plating, etching and heat treatment of metals is desirable.
  • Proficiency with CAD software is required (site currently uses Pro-E/Creo). 
  • High proficiency in written and verbal communication with the ability to compose test procedures and engineering reports.
  • Proficiency in design and analytical software tools required, Ansys is one of the preferred softwares


  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is a requirement.
  • Analytical knowledge of Reliability, FMECA, RCCA and Six Sigma is desirable.
  • Familiarity with formal Qualification Standards such as RTCA DO-160D, MIL-STD-810 and/or EUROCAE ED-14 is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to support Project Engineering and Project Schedules.
  • Work effectively in a team environment.
  • An ability to take ownership and manage multiple, complex tasks and the drive to follow tasks through to a successful outcome.
  • A willingness to embrace change and an ability to identify and implement new processes.
  • The capability to work efficiently and accurately, with an attention to detail, and the discipline to self-manage.
