Type of role:     Permanent
Location:     Cheltenham base, with remote working opportunity.
Hours:     Nominally 37 hours per week, additional hours may be required as necessary to meet business commitments.
Travel:    Occasional UK and/or Overseas travel to customers and other Triumph sites

Role Summary:
As a Mechanical Engineer you will have a diverse opportunity to learn and develop the skills required to take customer requirements and develop them into a world class product and achieve Entry-Into-Service.  Also learn from real-life challenges of sustaining a product in service, these are invaluable experiences for the future design of our products. Joining our engineering team offers the opportunity to participate in all technical disciplines throughout the product life cycle; such as Design, Analysis (Stress and Performance), Safety and Reliability, Test and Manufacturing Support.  This will provide a solid foundation for your engineering career and ensure that everyday brings a new challenge.


Requirement of the Role: 
•    Interpret customer's requirements/specification.
•    Complete a breadth of activities including but not limited to Design, Analysis (Stress and Performance), Safety and Reliability, Test and Manufacturing Support.
•    Create and modify technical documentation (e.g. models, drawings, procedures and reports).
•    Ensure that the product meets safety, performance, weight, schedule, cost and reliability requirements.
•    Contribute and assist in design reviews.
•    Hands on involvement in product development and qualification testing.
•    Use design and test evidence to verify of requirements and ultimately support certification.
•    Identify and communicate technical risks to projects stakeholders.
•    Participate in cross-functional teams and support problem solving and corrective action activities to resolve design issues, Production test failures and customer returns/failures.
•    Support engineering changes, using Documentation Control Tools.


Requirements of the individual
•    Essential

o    A solid engineering background - Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline (or qualified to an equivalent level) / or equivalent experience.
o    Experience of designing similar equipment mechanical and/or hydraulic products, preferably mechanisms.
o    Good practical knowledge and technical reasoning skills.
o    Appreciation of the drivers / requirements of procurement, Design for Manufacture, Production and Quality. 
o    Good written and verbal communication skills.
o    Excellent skills with MS office applications.

•    Desirable

o    Experience of designing from customer specifications using 2D & 3D design tools, [Triumph tool – SolidWorks].
o    Experience of completing analysis in support designs [Triumph tools –  MathCAD / Ansys].
o    Good knowledge and experience of mechanical components, geometric tolerancing, processing, precision machining, castings, forgings, metallic materials, military and industry standards.
o    A good understanding of Reliability, Safety / Airworthiness, Production methods, Materials and Processes, and Stress and Performance analysis. 
o    Understanding of Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
o    Experience using problem solving tools (8D, 5Why and other Lean tools).
