Lead Analysis Engineer
Location: Hatherley Lane, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
Hours: Nominally 37 hours per week over 4 or 5 days per week flexible working, additional hours may be required as necessary to meet business commitments
Travel: Occasional UK and/ or overseas travel to customers and other Triumph sites.
Role Summary
We are looking for a Lead Analysis Engineer to join our team. The role involves the full product lifecycle from New Product Introduction (NPI) through to modifying and supporting in service products on various programmes, including Airbus, Boeing, SAAB, Leonardo and other major customers. The Lead Analysis Engineer will be analysing and supporting actuation products (hydraulic or electro-mechanical), and/or hydraulic control valves within an aviation business.
Requirements of the Role
• Lead project/ analysis activities (with focus on analysis) and participate in project design reviews
• Interpret customer's requirements/ specifications
• Ensure that the product meets safety, performance, weight, schedule, cost and
reliability requirements

• Advise on design options, materials selection, compliance and testing, with regard to
structural integrity, lifing, non-conformance and modifications
• Review drawings and designs from an analysis perspective
• Provide analysis support to production
• Conduct stress/ fatigue analysis on hydraulic, mechanical and electromechanical
components from conception
• Awareness of both linear and non-linear Finite Element methods
• Contribute to the preparation of structural analysis reports to meet project design
requirements
• Identify and communicate technical risks to projects stakeholders
• Contribute and assist in technical design and programme reviews.
Requirements of the Individual
Technical Skills:
• A solid engineering background - Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline (or qualified to an equivalent level)/ or equivalent experience
• A good understanding of Reliability, Safety/ Airworthiness, Production methods, Materials and Processes, and Stress and Performance analysis
• Familiarity of designing from customer specifications using 2D & 3D design tools, preferably SolidWorks
• 5+ years’ experience of analysing mechanical and/ or hydraulic products, preferably within an aviation business
• Knowledge of performance analysis in developing simple loads and load path analysis
• Experience of conducting static analysis under limit and ultimate loading
• Experience of conducting fatigue analysis and knowledge of failure mechanisms
• Experience of performing FE Analysis and using the results
• Experience of structural specification and report writing
• Experience of working to regulatory/ quality standards within the aerospace industry
• Experience of aerospace material data such as MMDH and MMPDS
• Able to understand failure modes to apply correctly analysis methods to size components
• Good knowledge and experience of mechanical components, geometric tolerancing, processing, precision machining, castings, forgings, metallic materials, military and industry standards
• Appreciation of the drivers/ requirements of Procurement, Design for Manufacture, Production and Quality
• Understanding of design (DFMEA), test and analysis (Mathcad, FEA) tools
• Experience using problem solving tools (8D, 5Why and other Lean tools)
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
