IT Manager / DataCentre Operations Manager - EMEA/ APAC

Position Purpose

POST:                           IT Manager / DataCentre Operations Manager – EMEA/APAC

RESPONSIBLE TO:        IT Director, Triumph Systems & Support

RESPONSIBLE FOR:     Infrastructure and Enterprise Applications Regional Teams

LOCATION:                     UK, (Frequent travel will be required)

WORKING PATTERN:    Full time (37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year) occasional out of hours’ work and travel will be required


Job Purpose

The IT Manager / DataCentre Operations Manager is responsible for all aspects of the Technical Operation of the Regional DataCentre.  
The role also exists to assist the IT Director in leading IT shared infrastructure services on an operational and strategic planning level, including fostering innovation, planning projects, and organising and negotiating the allocation of resources globally.
The purpose of the role is to:


IT Management

•    Benchmark, analyse, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the Regional IT infrastructure and IT systems.
•    Manage financial aspects of the IT services across the region, including purchasing, budgeting, and budget review.
•    Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
•    Implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
•    Develop requests for proposal.
•    Negotiate and administer vendor, and consultant contracts and service agreements.

Operational/ Tactical Management

•    Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems,
      applications, hardware, software, and peripherals across the region, ensuring standards are consistently applied.                              
•    Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
•    Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
•    Direct research on potential technology solutions.
•    Keep current with the latest technologies.
•    Approve and oversee projects and project portfolio.
•    Practice asset management for IT hardware, software, and equipment.
•    Manage IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
•    Establish and maintain regular communications with the organisation's executives, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent IT activities.

DataCentre Operations Management

•    Coordinate the ongoing activities of the DataCentre team, inclusive of oversight for the related IT project portfolio as well as ongoing incident response management for supported systems.

•    Oversee and coordinate lifecycle management for all communications servers, business continuance and service restoration strategies, and ongoing roadmap for TGI’s infrastructure

•    Participate as a member of an IT Infrastructure & Operations management leadership team that is responsible for defining the governance processes of the organisation’s infrastructure architecture,
     datacentre, networks, telecommunications, client desktop, and infrastructure applications.

•    Continually evaluate the current state of the European DataCentre application architecture and services against TGI goals and objectives and adapt operational strategies to maintain alignment.

•    Contribute to the design and execution of the enterprise-wide business continuity plan.

•    Define requirements for new technology implementations and communicate to key stakeholders.

•    Assess and communicate risks associated with technology-related investments and purchases.

•    Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for technology spending and initiatives.

•    Manage vendor relationships with service providers and technology manufacturers

Person Specification


•    Degree in a related technical, business or management field, or equivalent experience.
•    10 years proven experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, applications and products.

•    ITIL Foundation
•    Prince2  

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

•    Experience in a senior IT role, either as a deputy team leader or manager
•    A strong IT technical background 
•    Evidence of being a good communicator 
•    Enthusiastic approach to Customer Service
•    Knowledge of, or experience using an IT service desk software package or working to an SLA
•    Good technical skills with MS Technologies 
•    Strongly task-driven/multi-tasking

•    Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
