Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering team
- Product responsibilities include heat exchangers, cold plates, liquid cooling systems and related equipment such as valves, tanks, fans, and reservoirs in an aerospace environment.
- Work with programs department to execute design and analysis to program milestones and deliverables.
- Determine project schedules by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements. Maintain project schedules by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
- Control project plan by reviewing design specifications, and plan or schedule changes, and recommending actions to achieve quality and customer service objectives. Control project costs by approving expenditures and administering contractor contracts.
- Interpret regulations, contracts, and Company policy on areas applying to engineering.
- Meet business targets for team.
- Manage indirect spending and budgets for team aligning with business targets.
- Provide staffing and resource decisions, to execute tasks for the business.
- Develop staff through training and development, mentoring, and challenging work assignments.
- Collaborate with direct reports to create development plans for staff and succession planning.
- Provide timely and effective communications to senior management, staff, and customers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
- Strong thermal management fluid systems and component background required.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through ten or more years of increasingly responsible related experience as an engineer in the aerospace industry. Three years engineering management experience and demonstrated leadership capability is required.
- Outstanding Leadership Skills. Provide effective and compassionate leadership to the team. Provide strong leadership and direction without smothering the creativity and ingenuity of the staff.
- A strong desire to want to motivate others to succeed.
- Excellent communications skills. You will be coordinating across the organization on new programs. Frequent consultation during both the proposal and design phases with the organization is crucial. You will also be required to be the engineering “face” of the company with our customers on many occasions.
- Knowledge of applicable manufacturing processes (braze, weld, machining, assembly, test) including additive manufacturing ensuring design for manufacture and assembly principles are applied.
- Comprehensive knowledge of state-of-the-art engineering techniques, procedures, instruments, equipment, theories, principles and concepts and general business operations. Ability to establish goals and objectives to complete projects. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, technical policies and recommend changes to procedures.
- Ability to apply and integrate knowledge of other related engineering areas to own areas of expertise. Comprehensive knowledge of, and ability to effectively assess and implement, quality and continuous improvement methods
