Responsibilities

ENGINERING TESTING

Operate most laboratory equipment including:  Rockwell hardness, microhardness, tensile testing, salt spray contamination, chemical concentration in cleaning tanks, etc.  Utilize precision gauging equipment, micrometers, dial indicators, surface plate, microscopes.  Prepare test reports based on specification requirements.  Demonstrate a working knowledge of materials & processes specifications.

PROCESS DOCUMENTATION

Review Work Instructions with Inspectors, Operators, Quality Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers to improve accuracy and detail with text and digital pictures. 
Monitor and ensure Engineering approval and release through Document Control.  Develop Instructional Guidelines for the proper use of gaging.  Compile data on product rejects to support altering inspection frequencies. 

CALIBRATION

Complete and document calibration of pressure gages, torque wrenches and various inspection hand tools.  Write and revise work instructions for performing calibrations.  Monitor and ensure release of calibration instructions through Document Control.  Track the collection of gages, the completion of calibration and the return of gages using databases and/or spreadsheets.

AUDITING

Perform internal audits of manufacturing processes and Quality Control Procedures.  Track internal audits and ensure completion to schedule.  Complete Quality self audits requested by customers.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Track and ensure completion of Corrective Action for audit findings and product rejects.  Participate in teams to develop and implement corrective action.  Follow up on corrective action at specified intervals to ensure continued implementation.

FIRST ARTICLE INSPECTION

Assist in preparing First Article Inspection (FAI) reports to AS9102 standards.  Create drawing trees and balloon drawings; gather data, certifications and other FAI documentation; develop and complete spreadsheets and reports for complete FAI packages meeting customer requirements.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to read engineering drawings, sketches, schematics and procedures.
  • Basic PC (MS Office) and electronic console skills where applicable.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Pass a drug test prior to entering the position and be subjected to random drug testing if covered by the FAA/DOT Anti-drug program.
  • Must demonstrate effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others as a participative team player.
