Supplier Quality Development Engineer

Responsibilities

Position Summary

Deployment of supplier development and improvement processes across the Triumph supply chain, achieving improvements in both Quality and Delivery performance, enabling the enhancement of supplier capabilities to meet current and future business needs.
This supplier facing position drives operational excellence within the supply base, to support our internal stakeholders, ensuring that operational goals and long-term capability can be established and sustained.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•    Work collaboratively to provide assessments to Triumph Internal Quality and Procurement, in relation to suppliers’ delivery performance, quality assurance, process capability and any subsequent improvements required as a result of the assessments
•    Identify the causes of any poor delivery performance and develop with the supplier, recovery and process improvement plans
•    Actively supports supply chain with NPI and APQP activities, by working closely with suppliers from development through to production launch. Ensuring compliance to contract requirements and processes, while enabling on time submission of FAI’s, APQP and/ or PPAPs
•    Creation of periodic status reports, communicating actions and plans to all required stakeholders 
•    Conduct initial Supplier Site Assessments to evaluate risk with New Suppliers prior to their addition to the ASL
•    Coaches suppliers in the deployment of key business processes such as 8D Problem Solving, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), SIOP and Material Management
•    Functions as customer liaison, educating suppliers in Triumph supplier quality processes, to achieve optimal alignment with manufacturing plans and provide appropriate technical support, to assist supplier in achieving their commitments
•    Prepare presentations and lead meetings
•    Completion of any work-related tasks, which would be deemed reasonable for this role. 

 Position Details 

•    Based in Deeside, Flintshire
•    Travel to suppliers will be required
•    Hours of Employment: 37 hours a week. Flexibility may be required. 

Qualifications

 Job Requirements, Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

•    Minimum of 5 years-experience in Manufacturing Engineering and 5 years-experience in Quality, or Supply Chain / Procurement preferred
•    5+ years Aerospace or Automotive experience preferred
•    HNC in engineering or Quality Assurance, or equivalent
•    Experience with quality systems (AS9100), APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, and PPAP plus the following, Problem Solving, Auditing (AS9100)
•    Understanding of Material Management, Capacity Analysis and Rate Readiness
•    Lean/ Six Sigma preferred – greenbelt/blackbelt or equivalent experience
•    Strong manufacturing technical knowledge with good knowledge of machining of associated materials and special processes
•    Experience of supply chain, supplier development programmes and contract negotiation
•    Results focused with a ‘hands on, can do approach’, coupled with excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
•    Excellent system skills – MS Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint) and working knowledge of databases and ERP systems 
•    A good communicator, both verbal and written, with the ability to work with all levels of Triumph and supplier’s personnel.
