Operations Director - UK and IOM

Position Profile:  Operations Director: UK and IOM
Location: Deeside.  Frequent travel required to Isle of Man

Job Summary

Reporting into the Managing Director, the Operations Director manages and directs all activities related to production operations and facility management by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers and their staff across the UK and Isle of Man sites.

Major Accountabilities

  • Responsible for monthly Sales, Inventory and Operational Planning SIOP process driving operation excellence into the business ensuring timely submission of approved forecast data into finance department to support the month end forecasting process
  • Develops and maintains operations business plans to include all program requirements, labour requirements, cycle times, production costs and infrastructure
  • Owns and develops the production sales forecast monthly identifying all risk and opportunities to achieve meeting the Annual Operating Plan AOP
  • Responsibility for maintaining the appropriate inventory levels across the business to ensure delivery to our customers and the AOP with adherence to inventory accuracy metrics 
  • Ensures all production deliveries are met through on-time execution of ERP schedule manufactured jobs
  • Drives a continuous improvement lean mindset throughout the production floor, participating in lean events, Kaizens and the drive towards Zero Defects
  • Ability to assimilate ERP data, develop predictive trends, and provide guidance to internal external customers as to as demonstrated production, future rate loads, and capacity planning
  • Coordinates manufacturing activities with all other functions of the organization, contractors and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilisation of human resources, machines, and equipment
  • Drives operational culture to embed EHS policies
  • Develop strategies to partner with Supply Chain to remove internal barriers in fulfilling customer requirements
  • Responsible for developing 5-year Capex and investment plan in support of the AOP, identifying bottlenecks and identifying mitigation options
  • Responsible for ensuring detailed product routings are available for the business, including inputs to standard costing models
  • Works with Engineering team to transition development products into full rate production through Operations Launch process and ensures design for manufacturing input is an integral part of new product development
  • Maintain a high state of operational readiness of the facility, preventative maintenance, and oversight of all facilities and property upkeep
  • Determines responsibilities of assigned organisational and staff positions to accomplish business objectives
  • Achieve and maintain a thorough understanding of site product lines and all the constituent processes required to manufacture them
  • Written process owner for operational process documents utilised in all accreditations including AS9100, PART21G and PART145
  • Minimum Education Required: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, or Aerospace)

 

Minimum Years of Experience Required: Ten years working in a management position with a strong, demonstrated background in shop floor operations, product flow and data analytics
