Sustaining Engineer - Hydraulic

  • Foundational knowledge of mechanical and/or aerospace engineering. 
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of fluid power systems and components such as pumps, valves, and actuators.
  • Knowledge of fluid power standards and equations.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical schematics, using Visio or similar.
  • Experience in civil/military equipment hydraulic and system design, qualification, and development.
  • Experience with CAD 3D models to assist problem solving using Creo Parametric or similar.
  • Ability to systematically solve hydraulic related problems and perform root cause analysis.
  • Ability to communicate with a cross-functional team of engineers, technicians, and program managers when solving multidisciplinary problems. 
  • Ability to identify design deficiencies and address thru established Engineering Change processes
  • Ability to lead cost reduction projects on legacy products inclusive of product re-qualification
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures, including safety requirements.



  • Must be able to respond effectively to unanticipated, time-sensitive and mission-critical production issues in a rapidly changing, high intensity environment.
  • Must be able to build and maintain effective working relationships with other members of the engineering team, as well as with production personnel and senior management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Including effective communications in English, with the ability to explain complex principles in common language.
  • Manage workload among changing priorities, alternating between hands-on verification, validation, documentation, and communication/presentations.
  • Good organizational skills, and ability to independently manage multiple and conflicting priorities.
  • Strong leadership skills to guide multiple departments in support of solving a common problem.


Required Education, Certification, and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. Additional experience in lieu of education may be considered.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in hydraulic engineering environment.


Physical Demands

  • May require lifting, pulling, and carrying up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Frequent bending, climbing stairs, pulling, pushing, and reaching overhead.
  • Standing and/or other active work for up to eight (8) hours per day. Sitting up to eight (8) hours per day, or a combination of sitting and standing.



Up to 10% travel required.
