Responsibilities

Position Profile: Supplier Quality Engineer - RELOCATION NOT AVAILABLE 


Summary
Focus on supplier development in a manufacturing or service process. Works with suppliers to continuously improve performance, implement process controls and develop quality assurance plans. SQEs must be critical thinkers and active listeners with good time management skills to effectively work with Corporate Supply Chain, Suppliers, Procurement and Program Management teams to define deliverables, goods and services ready for customer delivery. 

Essential Functions 
•    Develops, establishes, implements, maintains and assures the effectiveness of Quality Management Systems (AS9100) at the Supplier
•    Maintain and analyze Supplier Quality Metrics/Key Performance Indicators to include Quality Performance and Supplier Concessions 
•    Assist suppliers in the development and implementation of continuous improvement objectives and action plans
•    Ensure supply base is implementing effective root cause analysis and assist in their training, as applicable
•    Work closely with suppliers on quality issues
•    Interface with customers and suppliers on new product launch and quality improvement activities.
•    Assist with maintenance and updates to the Triumph Supply Source Portal, including certifications, E-SCARS, NoEs, Quality Alerts, etc 
•    Assists with flow down requirements and communications to suppliers of Advanced Product Quality Planning 
•    Assists and/or maintains the Supplier Inspection Delegation Approval process
•    Key player in Transfer of Work projects
•    Generate technical reports that accurately communicate relevant quality information to the suppliers
•    Handles the dispositioning of non-conformance items, using Supplier Material Discrepancy Approval Requests 
•    Evaluate supplier process changes
•    Perform Internal Audits/Assessments, as well as those of new and existing suppliers
•    Assist with the evaluation and analysis of quality to verify compliance, monitor performance, and mitigate risks
•    Assists with Supplier First Article Inspections
•    Interact with and communicate with internal departments concerning measures for continual supplier quality improvement
•    Provide monthly reports of supplier interactions and status, including plans and goals
•    Gathers information and presents supplier data during Supplier Optimization Meetings and Management Review
•    Apply statistical knowledge for quality improvement plans, both internally and externally
•    Contributes to team effort by maintaining a positive outlook
•    Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety requirements
•    Other duties assigned to ensure customer needs are met

•    Six Sigma training is preferred
•    Working knowledge of SPC
•    Working knowledge of GD & T and use of standard inspection measuring equipment, a plus
•    Experience in interpretation of blueprints/specifications, metrology, and manufacturing process planning/evaluation
•    Working Knowledge of First Article Inspections (FAI)
•    Familiarization with FAA requirements
•    Familiarization with ITAR/EAR/FARS/DFARS
•    Familiarization and/or working knowledge of APQP - AS9145
•    Familiarization and/or working knowledge of Delegated Product Release Verification -AS9117 
Supervisory responsibility
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) has no supervisory responsibilities.

Required education, certification, and experience
•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
•    2+ years in a manufacturing environment

Preferred education, certification, and experience
•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Aviation related from an accredited university or college preferred but not required.
•    Certification in Quality Engineering (CQE) or a Quality Auditor (CQA) desired

Physical demands
•    May require lifting, pulling, and carrying up to fifty (50) pounds
•    Frequent bending, climbing stairs, pulling, pushing, and reaching overhead.
•    Standing up to eight (8) hours per day, sitting up to eight (8) hours per day, or a combination of sitting and standing.

Travel
Up to 10% travel may be required
