Machinist 4 Overview:

Responsibilities:
- Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
- Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup;
- Uses a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments;
- Makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds;
- Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining;
- Fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required.
- Ability to lead and train others on machines and best methods
Some machines may be numerically controlled.
May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures and certify/test product.
Qualifications
hysical Requirements: Work may require bending, carrying up to 40 lbs. Sitting or standing up to a minimum for eight hours per day
Minimum Education Required: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: 3-5 years of related machining experience. Post high school coursework or professional certification preferred.
Qualifications:
• Perform basic math (add, subtract, multiple, and divide).
• Mechanical/technical aptitude.
• Attendance dependability.
• Ability to work independently.
• Flexibility with changes in work requirements.
• Attention to detail.
• Perform basic computer skills, such as open and save files along with basic data entry.
• Understand basic terminology used in the job functional area.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• GD&T knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
