The Quality Engineer applies strong knowledge of quality systems to develop and improve the systems and products necessary to ensure that the business attains its annual goals, while meeting Regulatory, Customer, and Industry requirements. Develops and maintains the systems as necessary to ensure continued improvement and compliance with AS9100/ISO9001, Customer, and Regulatory requirements.


• Promotes and executes quality assurance philosophy throughout the organization

• Maintains reporting and distribution of Quality Metrics to include DPMO (Defects per Million Opportunities), Scrap, Warranty, Rework, and etc

• Processes and leads Customer Returns from receipt to return shipment, to include data entry, technical assistance, root cause investigations, and Failure Analysis Reports (FARs), as necessary

• Prepares and submits Quality information and non-conformance data onto Customer’s portal as required

• Performs direct correspondence with assigned Customers for Quality related requirements and issues

• Leads and assists with internal, customer, or supplier audits and visits, including the completion of matrices and summary reports

• Plays an active role on quality management teams within the organization and keeps the management team abreast of significant issues or developments

• Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and collect data for monitoring targets

• Prepares and presents quality metrics during Management Reviews including: Warranty, Customer Scorecards, and Customer Returns

• Maintains a working knowledge of FAA and industry quality assurance codes and standards

• Prepares and presents technical and program information to the management team

• Supports in the implementation of APQP and PPAP

• Write and follow up on both internal and external corrective actions for root cause analysis

• Write and revise internal procedures as necessary

• Assists with gathering and writing (NOEs) Notification of Escapement

• Assists with handling and dispositioning of non-conformance items, both internally and externally, using Material Review Reports (MRRs) and Supplier Material Discrepancy Approval Requests (SMDARs)

• Communicates and works closely with Program Management

• Communicates with external Suppliers as needed concerning customer complaints

• Complies with all company policies and procedures, including safety requirements.

• Contributes to team effort by maintaining a positive outlook

• Other duties as assigned to ensure customer needs are met


  • Associates degree in Manufacturing / Mechanical Engineering or technical field, or equivalent work-related experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering preferred
  • Certification as a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or a Quality Auditor (CQA) desired.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a Quality Assurance role in manufacturing or the aerospace industry.
  • Will consider a new college grad with experience in a Quality CoOp or internship.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001
  • Working knowledge using various tool for RCCA investigations, analysis, and implementation
  • Quality experience working directly with customers and suppliers
  • Familiarization/experience in the following methodologies is preferred:
    • DMAIC and 8 Disciplines (8D) problem solving
    • Lean Six Sigma
    • Statistical Process Control
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Proficient knowledge and application of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to handle interruptions
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Professionalism in dealing with adverse or difficult situations
