Associate Director, Tax

Job Summary

Reporting to the Vice President, Tax, the Associate Director, Tax will have primary responsibility for all aspects of federal, state income/franchise and foreign tax issues including financial statement reporting by period, federal consolidated tax return, state and foreign combined/consolidated/separate tax returns, SOX 404, IRS, state and foreign taxing jurisdiction audits and implementing tax policy.

Responsibilities

Tax Planning:

  • Assist with transaction structure and other matters to maximize the overall federal, international, state and local tax efficiency.
  • Advise management with respect to tax matters on operations.
  • Assist in developing creative strategies for managing potential tax obligations.

 

Tax Compliance and Accounting:

  • Significant technical knowledge and ability to successfully manage the completion of complex income tax returns and research projects.
  • Manage the financial statement reporting of federal, state and foreign income taxes in accordance with GAAP and the preparation of related disclosures.
  • Manage tax audits.
  • Administer tax inquiries and correspondence from taxing authorities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10+ years of tax experience, combination of public and industry preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with CPA designation and/or advanced degree in taxation highly desirable.
  • Strong tax and accounting skills and the ability to leverage these skills to enhance efficiency and financial performance.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills
  • Working knowledge of tax return preparation and planning software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong listening skills, drive, and work ethic. 
  • Willing to be hands-on to get things done.
  • Ability to effectively interact with senior executives, external advisors, and other outside parties.
  • Extremely strong sense of teamwork and ability to work well with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to add value to the organization beyond the tax arena.
  • Comfortable in digging into details but understands the “big picture.”
