Description

As an Infrastructure Architect, you will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the organization's computing infrastructure. As a member of the IT team, you will ensure that the computing infrastructure is operating efficiently, securely, and effectively to meet the needs of the organization's operations. This role requires strong technical skills, strategic planning abilities, and effective communication to manage infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions and upgrades.

Responsibilities

  • VMware Administration: Manage and maintain VMware environments, including virtual machines, ESXi hosts, and vCenter. Perform troubleshooting, patching, and optimization to ensure stability and efficiency.
  • Windows Server Management: Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments. Oversee Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and file services.
  • GPO Administration: Design, implement, and troubleshoot Group Policy Objects (GPO) to enforce security policies, manage software deployments, and ensure consistent configurations across systems.
  • Problem Solving & Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve complex infrastructure issues related to hardware, software, and network. Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for escalated issues.
  • Network Fundamentals: Basic understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Backup & Recovery: Implement and manage backup solutions for critical systems. Ensure data integrity and the ability to restore services in case of failures.

  • Security & Compliance: Apply patches, updates, and support security and compliance measures. Collaborate with security and compliance teams to maintain a secure and compliance IT environment.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation related to system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to support IT projects, system upgrades, and ongoing maintenance efforts. Provide timely status updates (both verbal and written) to team members and management.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in infrastructure administration or engineering roles.
  • Solid understanding of Windows, UNIX, Linux, and cloud-based systems.
  • Experience with managing work using a service desk ticket system.
  • Some travel will be required for the purpose of meeting with site personnel, Management, and other stakeholders.
  • Some evening and weekend work will be required.

Qualifications

  • VMware: Expertise in vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter, including configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Windows Servers: Strong experience in Windows Server, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and file servers.
  • GPO Administration: Proficient in creating, deploying, and troubleshooting Group Policy Objects (GPO).
  • Scripting: Familiarity with scripting (PowerShell, Bash) for automation and management.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
  • Prior experience in the aerospace and/or manufacturing industry is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, critical thinking and ‘attention to detail’ skills.
